  1. Nice to talk to you Toby see you later in the week:001_smile:
  2. I agree Nick I made a point of having the lane off the main road widened and verges cut back gate widened low bows cut off so it made it Easter for them the yards always cleared of sharp off cuts when I look at the location of some yards it amazes me how they get in. Going back to transport issues I think it will balance out as there is a lot of new lorries appearing on the scene either existing company's expanding or self drivers buying skeleton trailers ?
  3. I had same problem with long distance transport thought the firms would jump at the chance to get return loads. I found a firm and there the muts nuts they work nation wide including Cornwall. The way I keep them happy is pay for loads up front there flats so 100 ton a time look after the drivers with a proper drink and help them where you can. There is that much work out there that if you upset them there off to the next contract. Some of the rates been paid to haul softwood to certain facility's for bio mas are ludicrous. Getting timber transported with in herefordshire is cheep and easy.
  4. We'll Jon some one must of snapped wilsons hand off for that Dalen because it's not on there web site now:001_smile:
  5. THE market in my erea will take£130 a cube i hope to have stock of a 800t by august. All i want to concentrate on is selling firewood and if i am to do that it needs to be big or not at all. No more putting stuff off for me do it now or you may never do it.
  6. JON go look on there site and see all the machines that are traded up every two years if a machine is still going strong. The first time round i bought a farmi and am working it to the limit. i looked at posch then and was put off buy attitude and strength of machine. If you want advice go seek out the guys that do 2000t plus and see how they got there. that's what i have done and dalen keeps coming up and transaw just limited on size with transaw. Not wanting to come across nasty jon but there processors are limited unless your buying in larch or birch.
  7. Sorry jon thats not the feed back i am getting they make good splitters but a lot of the larger producers are turning to Transaw or Dalen. I spoke with a lot of owners and Dalen keeps been highly spoken of.
  8. No words just feel numb and empty for you. Tragic
  9. What model do you have TT any minor problems what size knives do you use? Need to make an informed decision on this as this will be the first time i finance anything.
  10. Did exactly the same years ago and the result was pretty much the same resulting in a rather large lump on the head.
  11. I am not going to nock posch Jon just herd so much about dalen and your getting a machine with huge capacity for very little money. One of the guys I spoke to has been putting 1500 ton a year through his for the last 3 years with only modest maintenance.
  12. Now I have a supplier that can get me the cord I want I need a bigger processor I am been told dalen are the must nuts . Any body had problems?
  13. Mine started doing that few weeks went by then it shat a valve which then pierced the piston and smashed the spark plug.
  14. I've been looking at the ash trees around our house for some weeks thinking there late a lot of the crown show no sign of leaf at all. It's quite sad looking at the remains of chestnut grove then 4 mature giant ash trees looking so ill then in the field opposite our house there is a giant oak that looks like it's going to have to come down / pollarded. Sad indeed.
  15. If it's in little lumps and he is a mate I would be looking at getting £30 a ton you here people saying its worth X y or z if it was all 12 inch down straight it would be worth £50 a ton. I bet his face was a picture when you said 3k
  16. Only you can answer that. Paying 60 here delivered but it's coming a long way and it's all sub 14 inch and good quality hardwoods and there is a huge supply. £130 a cube for hardwood £115 for 50-50 mix and £95 for soft. We're all charging the same locally.
  17. I would go for a second hand ifor p7 or p6 I use to tow a quad in one then use trailer behind quad to get to distant parts of the estate. Tried and tested and if you don't abuse it will hold its money. All the second hand trailers I have bought I have got my money back or slightly more.
  18. He would of known he was a goner the moment it went over the point of balance it was at 135 ft when it came over so that's some sort of momentum. I've had many an ass clenching moment in z40 and z60. Every time I've been in anything bigger I would always come down and reposition. If you drive over a brick boomed out at 80ft the basket move about 3ft.
  19. Looks like a 120ft straight arm geni that would be a hell of a crash poor bloke
  20. Try a tin of galvatoid.
  21. No Ash out in herefordshire I have never seen them this bare in the middle of May
  22. I wish you could get 35 t on an article 25 is the norm but I've had 29.2 over the bridge.
  23. A friend and competitor has just had a kiln put in that takes around an article load at a time. Very we'll built by a British company. Not cheep but hell of a good design and RHI compliant.
  24. Need to insure new yard which is 4 miles away who is the most trustworthy out of the main players. Who has had claims and been payed out successfully and who has had trouble. Can not afford to loose machinery and not get payed out. Any help appreciated.
  25. It's good firewood usually put it in as a mixer because the general public have no idea and I am fed up of trying to convert them. Fetches strong money locally at £40.00 a ton roadside.
