  1. I've had climbers work for me that got all the tickets all the gear but no idea think they no it all but no (insert your own) Had other climbers come no tickets no qualifercations and they are in a class of there own and self taught. The way I see it is you can be taught or teach yourself I prefer the latter but due to staying legal got relevant certs.
  2. If you get a new one you will not have to worry about any major issues for at least 80k when you do the genuine parts are not that bad I just bought a clutch for mine for £250 me and a mate fitted it in about 4 hours. If you had the work done at Isuzu it would be at least a grand. Had the disks and pads done £135 for parts. The weak points that you can only buy genuine are the barrels in the ignition and the key fobs.
  3. Yes it's not going to be cheep but the guy I am planning on sharing it with runs a business producing chip for boilers so he needs a lot of space. Another guy needs hard standing for 2000ton of softwood that they use for biomass for heating chiming sheds so I'll have a corner and part of a building. I am trying to get planning on my yard for a house and had out grown it the new place will give me a lot more scope to do different things and grow plus trucks will be able to get in Easier which had been a problem at present yard.
  4. Interesting stuff I am looking for a new yard at the moment and been offered a possible 6 acres of concrete with 2big buildings on trying to find another business to share the cost. How do they work business rates out is it done on size.
  5. Fair play Dave that's good money have you got a lot of other log merchants round you what are they charging.
  6. Brother In law got diagnosed epilepsy at the beginning of 2013 after having some nasty seizures ,he could not drive until they got the meds right which took about 6 months . Now as long as he takes his meds at the set times he is fine and has not changed his life in any way. Good luck
  7. We bought the pro drive model which was a bit erratic so we had it remapped and then our mechanic sauced the chip it's a super chip. If you Google the name you will get loads of suppliers come up. Be carefully though if you have an accident and you have not informed your insurance they will not pay out on the car.
  8. There use to be three erectors in our gang so it was 3 6 or 9 pints at dinner time if the crane driver liked a drink we never use to get back that day or sometimes the next.
  9. How old are you dan? I am going to phone aviva in the morning and get a quote
  10. The change to pickets made the job a lot better. All the old erectors use to be piss heads I think that's what kept there nerve many mornings I use to look at the rafter and think which one do I step on as I was seeing double from the nights antics. When I started on the gang on my first day it was make bolts up or walk purlins out if you did not do it you had a kick up the ass and down the road. It seems to me like some of the younger generation could do with a bit of that treatment.
  11. Who is that with as that's unbelievable modded chipped and your paying 320. I got a3l rodeo that's remapped and chipped at 35 with a clean licences I pay £875 for any one over 25.
  12. I do my increase in Nov before the rush starts. There will always be the lads doing it for 65 80 but they will usually run out and the proper firewood merchants will get really busy. It might not happen until early February this year but it will happen. Next year I'll probably add on what ever cord goes up by as I want to double the amount we did this year if I can find the dam cord might have to do more softwood.
  13. It's all right walking along beams and reasonably flat rafters most iron monkeys fell at hips or at the apex . Never had a fear of heights just a fear of hitting the deck. Would I get up and do it now no way in this world. Fair play to them for getting there rush from climbing better than hard drugs or joyriding there only going to kill them selfs. I feel sorry for his mum but if people did not push the boundaries it would be a bit boring the lad that started close proximity climbing craze started by climbing things.
  14. Hay I am not that old and could show those whipper snappers how to walk the top of that crane backwards in a blindfold. I'll get my coat.
  15. I would say yes but it depends on your area to make good money it's got to be £100 a cube in our area it's around £110 a cube or 65 a builders bag.
  16. What are the reasons you want a 4x4?
  17. Simple answer to this type of awkward price is tell them what you have what it will cost when you can deliver take it or leave it. We sell high grade firewood at a fair price and it's dry so if they do go Elsa where they usually come back. I've had a family member doing the processing , loading and delivering it's quite nice not to have the stupid questions from new or existing awkward clients.
  18. Brightwells in Herefordshire have contracts to take grounds care equipment off EA a lot off the big councils worth a look. But like any auction watch what your buying.
  19. Is that management company run by the biggest kiln dryer supplier as I've herd of them paying £75 per ton for graded stuff and they have been buying a lot of standing timber around us at silly money. I've been buying out of Shropshire at £55 a tonne as the supplier will not supply the above on principal.
  20. Did you get the one with double rams. If you don't mind me asking how much did that set you back?
  21. Is there any chance it will stand back up now?
  22. How does shaking it change anything apart from mixing the two stroke oil again once petrol starts to breakdown there is no going back.
  23. Any fuel that does not get used in the month gets thrown out I also will not use supermarket fuel as it seems very low quality. I put aspen in the 660 as it does not get used regular enough and I would rather pay the extra than pay for a new saw. I plan to use aspen more in this year and reflect it in the price. Would be interested to find out how using aspen helps the environment as a lot of the bigger firms are always asking about carbon footprint:001_smile:
  24. Lots of research to show that polymer migration does happen and has been causing problems since we started using plastic bottles. Have you ever wondered why squash taste different out of glass bottles. One of the specialists looking after Fred has written a paper on it makes for depressing reading.
  25. Any body Elsa up.
