  1. I have to agree with you about the photo, I was all steamed up at 4:00 trying to thrash along to clear the fenceline. I have to go with the dogwood as the leaves have no teeth, thanks all for your replies.
  2. Grateful thanks to anyone who can put me wise on this one, Ive even looked in my book but it doesn't seem to feature.
  3. Ive got a couple of bits in my woodpile, they are nearly black where they have weathered, does the cladding do the same thing? (Thanks)
  4. Upwards or downwards are both possible but much harder than overhead or flat. Downwards produces a thinner bead, use a higher current a go fairly quick to keep ahead of the slag, which tends to drown the arc, Upwards use as lower current as you can strike, get the tip doing a triangular dance, one side, the other side, then round the front as if to blow the bead back up hill and into the corner. Very much harder to make it look pretty but if you cant get the job flat then it has to be done.
  5. Ive gone one better, only ever bought one ticket, £1.00, gave it to the kids and told them to watch and see if we won. I got half an hour of peace and quiet, a bargain for a quid
  6. For many jobs, in gardens, the tracked machines would be too wide and cut up the turf, but for site clearance jobs they are brilliant. I have hired one in the past, but would just have happily had it with op. Whether there are enough days work around you is another matter entirely. Good luck with the venture if you do.
  7. IBC stands for intermediate bulk container, which is usually a 1000 litre tank surrounded by a cage that you can transport with a forklift

    Hornets

We seem to have a very similar setup to the op (kids are grown up though) large invasions if you leave the light on and the window open etc. I have never been stung by one, or any of the family, or the dog, but our local agricultural contractor was indoors having tea the other day and got stung by one as he put his boots back on at the back door. No lasting effects but apparently painful at the time.
  9. If you are bothering to raise the temperature at all, the the de-hum will keep the energy in the system, so more efficient than venting
  10. What (approx) would be the daily rate for processor and man? Thanks
  11. We need a picture to fire our imagination, Disc Harrow discs ?
  12. Ive seen knopper wasp gauls on a Turkey oak, do they appear on all species?
  13. Plogs, I got the tongs from Clarke, they are awesome, if you can fit the log in they will lift it, look too thin but they are tough as old boots, rated for a tonne When you put the log down, just swing the loose leg down the same side of the log as the other leg, then the machine can lift the tongs away. You will wonder how you got by without them!
  14. I have just read through the BBC thing, turns out that as fast as we re-wild stuff over here, some Argie is boshing a big hole in some rain forest to grow meat for us to eat:001_smile: "And where tree losses are often tied to timber supplies and land-use conversion for agriculture, as the global human population grows, we may see the net loss increase as well." What we really need to do is plant up lowland productive areas, use the wood to build houses instead of using plastic, leave the useless upland areas where nothing but sheep can really survive for the poor shepherds who dont have chainsaw certificates, just qualifications in the control of "Ovine Gastro-Intestinal Nematodes"
  15. The attitude of the supermarkets filling their shelves with New Zealand lamb during the peak of the UK production season, may just save you from doing any abolishing VI but do the trees need planting or would they just grow
  16. Kevin, its late and Im a little weary, but if you follow the link it seems to list a dog attack 27th Sept 2015, or am I loosing the plot?
  17. not a real load of logs at all is it, how many illegals do you reckon. (arent we all lucky not to be there)
  18. definitely peel, the bark just rots away leaving the wire loose, and I think they rot through quicker as well. Also its a lot more volume to truck about, and they dry and get lighter, easier to handle, less springy when you knock them in,
  19. Steve, I am totally converted to yellow, my 530 - 70 is W reg on 7500 hrs, still goes well, carts bales for 3 days up and down hill, mucks out for a day flat out and the rest of the year toodles about feeding animals, mooving pallets and bags, tugging tree trunks out the wood etc. and every now and then gets abused like a dumper, it still drives well and if someone took it away Id give up forever. With a three tonne machine you can stack comfortably on less than perfect ground, slung loads on unlevel roads can be a nightmare with a lighter machine. Going from a 528 down to a 520 I think you miss being able to reach out and place pallets, go bigger and secondhand is my advice. All the best whichever you choose
  20. that must prove that it is fish oil, surely
