  1. I contacted the local authority as I wanted to know what areas surrounding me are a conservation area so I can follow procedures as you do anyway they came back and told me they cant tell me and I will have to notify them of every tree I intend on working on regardless of wether its in a conservation area (which I wont know anyway because they have not given me info on where the conservation areas cover),is this normal?surely they could of said what areas are covered locally so I have some idea? I have the tree officer contacting me regarding something totally different so I am going to speak to her ,but the lady on switchboard spoke to the planning and thats what I got from them not very helpfull really .
  2. Would have to agree with others I think it look's more like a cherry plum Prunus cerasifera

  5. If somebody has a few loads of woodchip they want to drop I would take them off your hands as long as they are free ,message me if your interested Im in Caerleon just outside Newport thanks:001_smile:
  6. I would be thinking about your age in starting although I do know somebody who is in their 40's and thinking of starting up,and I know people who have being doing it over 12 years and are only my age who are really skilled at their job but it's taken them 12 year's of hard work to get where they are atm. If your not happy with what job you have I personally think go for it do whatever you feel you can but make sure you have somthing to fall back on if it doesnt work out:thumbup1:
  7. Mark it up with smart water get cctv put in make access as difficult as possible for them the more the have to break or force and cut their way through stuff the more chance they will get heard by somebody and the same as everybody else has suggested we got broken into before christmas they took our chipper and generator not impressed .
  8. That's Ok gibbon no worries fully understandable. I found loads of t &c online to use and adjust for my own purposes ,I am going to take the advice and put them on my quotes and get them printed with both my quote sheets and on my invoices that way they cant say they never saw them lol:001_smile:
  9. I was going to suggest the magnets that way when they need replacing it wont damage your paint job on your truck e.g fading and stuff around the old decals also if you need to remove for example if im doing a tip run with my own junk to the tip I wont get charged where as if I drove in with decals I would ! there are definatly advantages and they are fair priced too too:thumbup1:
  10. I would stick it out you will regret it otherwise I wish I had the option to do an arb course like that but im not in a position to so have had to do things the nptc route ,it will be worth it in the end and as other said its a qaulification thats with you for life well worth staying in there for it
  11. Ok thank's for the links and I will check they are up to date
  12. Thanks little tree and everyone else for your reply, I know a fairly large area of where I will be working is probably part of a conservation area but have no idea how much of it is, I did mean to ask my friend the other day when I was working with him as he deals with the local TO but it slipped my mind and when i read the other post last night I thought its one of the best places to ask
  13. Thanks ok think I will do
  14. After just reading another thread on the forum it just reminded me to ask how do I find out where a conservation area is?do the local TO supply a map showing what area's are covered ?or is there somthing online I can use to find out from?
  15. I feel sorry for you they sound like a right pair of :thumbdown:you stand your ground and speak to the property owners and if you have to pay for solicitor to send a letter out to shock therapy them about the forgery then do it sounds like they have dug theirselves a hole if you ask me and are the sort of people who usually get away with pushing people around dont take it ,hope it all work's out for you from what you have described I would say you have done everything right and so would the police or courts if it ever comes to that
  16. Wow lovely looking house hope you manage to get it sorted
  17. Definatley yes I spoke to the tax man just last week and asked exatly the same question, not only did he hand me top class advice he also wants me to go deal with two conifer's in his garden:thumbup:

  21. I got into conversation with a man I know this morning and it turn's out he is a police officer (I speak to him every day but never knew lol)anyway he mentioned when I told him about the recent theft we had that there is a data base the police use to help identify the property to it's owner so just thought I would share this with you all it may be worth a look it's called Immobilise :: The National Property Register, for phones, gadgets, bikes & more...
  22. Have to agree there I had similar from hawthorn did not realize it was the hawthorn that had done it as im alway's getting scratched and stuff but dont really pay that much attention but a month or so ago I was clearing some and did get stabbed in the arm by it next day my arm was up like a balloon ended up on anti histamine and anti biotics I thought it was a bite at first until I remembered the thorn that got me,would highly recomend benadryl topical antihistamine cream stops the itching pretty quick ,whatever the cause hope it gets better soon
  23. It probably caused your sensor to kick in I had the boost pressure sensor go on mine last year which led to power loss on the hills or when under load and a relay also went I replaced both but both times the engine managment system needed resetting for the light to go off and error code to be cleared(I never left it long enough to discover if it would of gone off by itself) but the first thing I was told to check for when my light came on was the vac hose for any damage cracks air holes or being loose of completly off mine behaved exactly the same way as your has anyway hope you have it sorted now
  24. If somebody could send me a copy of their t&c would be great I have to do my own and it would be nice to know what to include in them,Matt I can fully understand why seem's to be a lot of people in the Newport area willing to muck about and try and haggle over the price of stuff as im sure im about to discover t & c may encourage the client to be less comfortable with messing you around.
  25. I have tattoo's but they are not really offensive it's a personall thing I think the older generation are more offended by them most people accept them these day's ,I know a paramedic who has tattoo's but I doubt anybody would ask him to cover up if he was saving their life I dont think they would care what he had on him he still does his job well
