  1. Im looking at doing cs30&31 in sept which will soon come around, I just wanted to know though what does everyone recomend on a way of getting out there and finding employment I check job center regular but in the whole time i have been looking there is never any jobs in arboristery advertised how do you find a company that will employ you ?where should i look should i contact companies and just ask?
  2. Yes you are probabley right there about the rabbit population they are on the increase too since the myxomatosis died down i have seen less and less rabbits affected by that over the past ten years and being close to a golf course that is riddled in rabbits that would explain why im seeing so many more buzzards around here its due to the increase in food supply lol
  3. I am assuming somebody is trying to kill the tree and from what you have shown not a wise idea with buildings so close I have never seen this before sorry to sound stupid but what is ring barking?have they put somthing in it then?if i was a neighbour i would not be too happy at all looks like it could cause a big problem if it came down in the direction of the houses why would somebody do somthing so senseless ?why not get the tree felled does it look like its in anyone's way that they would want to sabbotage the poor tree like that?
  4. That shocking really i couldnt imagine people wanting to steal wood and must be annoying for you guys after all the hard work put into it too i guess i just assumed people done like me used their own land etc ,i source my wood from the river from our own ground and from freinds farms mainly and any friends who are removing trees from their gardens or if i see somebody clearing somthing its always worth asking, I also know a few local tree surgeons but to be honest get plenty from my own source so have never needed to get any brought in but guess i will soon find out how common it is once i get my tickets and start working places guess i better get me a chain and lock and somthing to staple them firmly to the ground either that or leave my dogs on the job until im able to remove them from the site lol
  5. There is also phatbeats home studio google it
  6. seriously do you get logs theifs? this was not the wording it was an actual stencil of a bird I would never take any wood without asking a landowner first that why i went down to look as it looked like the track was on the industrial unit ground but when i got down it was on the other side of a fence so guess it was council or highway dept, i didnt see from the road i spotted it from I dont think anyone could steal them there is no vehicle access they would have a hell of a job there ,but just wondered was it the norm for people to leave a mark like that?im taking it thats its not lol
  7. Lmao no was only looking as spotted logs im nosey like that im looking to fill the rest of my wood shelter ready for next winter but want hardwood really and have a field im waiting to access to sort out hedgrow boundry once the ground is dry enough to get my truck there should be plenty there to fill my shelter:001_smile:although if anyone is in the area and has stuff they want to get shot off lol, generally i dont like taking anything without asking was just nosing to see what they had taken out thats all then i remembered there was a huge row of conifers along that stretch and thats what they were, but was left intrigued as to why they sprayed the cockerel on the cut, seems to be a lot of work alongside m4 lately i guess its a big contracter or somthing?
  8. I spotted a load of felled conifer today and im always on the lookout for wood anyway it was off to the side of the m4 but on the ground on the edge of an industrial estate so i went down to take a look what was there anyway there was a few logs stacked neatly but on the one round there was a sprayed on letter.... u with a cockerel underneath i have never known of anyone to do this before is this something you all do ?is it like a trade mark or somthing?just thought i would ask lol:001_smile:
  9. Plenty here is south wales too i hear the green finch all the time and so far have spotted a few gold finch feeding off whats left of last years thistle seeds on the banks so there seem to be plenty about I would not say any less than normal here ,but i have seen a big increase in the buzzards about the place they have been stalking the pigeons on the local bridge not sure if they are after chicks or eggs lol
  10. Cracking stuff she(he) is at the CIA in Cardiff in june
  11. Im making a shopping list and seem's like stretch air is on the list of want's that's if i can get one that fit's thank's for the info:001_smile: and no im not fat far from it was busy with the saw yesterday and was roasting and thought it was worth asking about seeming you lot do it every day fab replies btw:lol:
  12. I find it does help them to heal them a lot quicker than if they were just left either get her to pop to the docs or get some hc45 from the pharmacy same stuff topical steroid cream and see if it helps
  13. Stunning gsd very clever keen to play and learn by the looks I have two gsd's both so different but an intelligent breed would never have another breed of dog again after keeping a shepherd they are fantastic with my family
  14. I just wondered how do you manage to stay cool when you lugging logs about the place and felling tree's ?
  15. I suffer with the next best thing to raynaud's syndrome i get terrible chill blains hands and toes the doc has given me eumovate cream(steroid cream)and nifedipine 5mg (blood pressure tablets)they increase blood flow to the restricted area and flush the vessels by all accounts i was told to only take them if i get real bad though i personally find prevention is better than cure there is nothing worse than having sore or numb fingers best thing you can do is invest in stuff to keep you better insulated and increase exercise ,ginko, garlic and oranges are all supposed to help circulation .....and moisturize I guess although i always forget got a cupboard full of the stuff but never use it lol would definatley speak to the doctor though and see what they say
  16. We get catapillars that do that in this country lol ,but yeah that is just strange to look at it thats one heck of a lot of spiders to do that
  17. Its a joke isnt it i find it hard to believe they think they can con people like that e-bay scammer's get right on my nerve's ,it will probabley re appear next week or somthing under a new seller again lol
  18. Definatly agree stick them on e bay if somthing in this state will sell then yrs should sell for almost the price you paid Stihl Hiflex Chainsaw Trousers Size M. Lightweight on eBay (end time 13-Jan-11 18:42:42 GMT)
  19. I would of done it if you had been closer im probabley not going to get to do my cs30&31 until at least sept im tied to s.wales atm as am full time with the kids until youngest starts full time school in sept ,you can read as much as you like but sometimes you have to see how things are done to learn a lot more looks like a good learning opportunity for somebody ,hope you find somebody
  20. My l200 is on a 52 plate i use it for my dogs ,wood and have used it towing trailer full of logs&chip having the cab on the back keeps dogs /most of dirt away from the main cab/bar sawdust, so its can still be used for shopping and general stuff i find it practical as others have said a few issues i had a leaf spring go and my fuel pump went on mine also a very common fault is the boost pressure sensors going on them and the solenoid situated in front of the drivers side by the turbo...but other than these things its a pretty reliable 4x4 and i dont intend on getting rid for some time .It cost a lot less to run than my old hilux surf i have to admit i dont like the look of the newer ones though too modern ,if i had a choice i would go for a brand spanking new toyota hilux ;)but i can keep on dreaming lol
  21. Yep I get it too worse at night time when im trying to get to sleep it started after my mother passed away a few years back i had a really bad migrane a few days after think its was stress from what had just happened, i was completley knocked for six by it and it started then and has not gone since i also suffer with glue ear on and off been to e.n.t twice since to be told nothing can be done and it's somthing i will just have to out up with, its not so bad during the day but when its quiet drives me mad lol
  22. What about the bloke who lives by the bell in in caerleon who organises the caerleon arts festival stuff he may know the local carvers in the area and may be able to put you in touch with them ,sorry dont know his name but know which house he lives in if its any help
  23. Well I am 30 and im female and the odds are against me but im currently saving to do my cs30 &31 in sept and will be seeking employment anytime from sept onwards if I was in your shoes I would jump at the chance im struggling with funding atm and am applying for a grant that starts taking applications in summer in my area so looks like im stuck until at least sept before I can get started but plenty of time to carry on learning in and as others have said it depends how far your intending on going with it ,i would love my own business but need experience and the only place im going to get it is learning from others and working alongside others so i have a lot to learn but im pretty determined and all my family friends know what im capable of and reckon i should go for it ,its somthing i enjoy doing ,do you think you will enjoy it ?being out in all weathers etc pushing yourself physically if so then go for it and good luck
  24. I would have to agree with stu3k a surf but a reliable one got to watch as the heads go on some amongst other issues like fuel pumps, rear window motors etc, mostly simple fixes so make sure its checked over properley before you buy only downside to a surf is its heavy on fuel but i used to get my old surf anywhere with off roads on and they are solid when you get a good one as proved by top gear lol,im now in a mitzi l200 a lot lighter on the back end and flippin useless when it comes to hills in the snow but much better on fuel and more practical for carrying wood and tools but classed as a commercial... recomend adrian flux for insurance quotes they kept me happy with my renewal thats due next month good luck 4x4 hunting
