  5. Thanks Paul , I was looking at the arb show info after yesterday and found they are doing a promotion stall there for them ,then I came across them online but just wanted some personal input from people who use them on how effective they were as you say they are costly but if im going to tell a customer yes I can kill a stump off effectivly then I want to know that they work well and that the customer wont be left with re growth after I have told them otherwise, lol wont be scattering them across the truck either:biggrin:
  6. Just wanted to know and where is the best place to buy them,do they work well or are other methods more effective?im getting a few customers asking about stumps that are re growing that never died off from previous work they have had done by other people one in particular today the roots was lifting the ladys wall up and the holly was re growing where her neighbour had quiet clearly cut it right back and tried poisening it as there were grooves cut into the tops where he must of treated it with somthing but its still very much alive.Any advice much appreciated thanks

  8. Wow thanks for the responses some good info there yeah will be watching for any little hogs in amongst it all and any birds nests im assuming its just a lawn gone crazy but both gardens either side are immaculate and this section is completley fenced off with padlocked gate so there could be anything under there really anyway think I will head in with long reach hedge cutters first been told there is two lads who can help out who are friends of the new tenant but its the sort of job I can come and go as I please because its a freind of a friend but thanks for the offer of help logron think I will get these young lads doing some proper work as once im done there they will probabley be the ones to help the girl out lol cheers for the advice all
  9. 11. I have been asked to do a garden for a friend's neice she is renting and the landlady has told her to get somebody in and she will foot the bill my friend asked me as she doesnt want to be alone with workmen doing it. I went to look at it and it is approx 30 meters x30 meters of what would of been lawn now covered in brambles which have come through from wastland at the back im not used to dealing with getting rid of brambles only cutting them back,so im guessing I should be going in with a brush cutter and clear whats on top but should they then be treated with weedkiller and if so which one? or should I consider rotavating the roots up?which is the best method to get it clear anyone got any tips ? Both gardens either side are immaculate and this garden is well contained by 6ft solid wooden fences and what sort of price should I charge for this? I honestly have no idea I can put a price on a tree and general planting etc but I have honestly no idea what to price this at and really need some help and advice
  12. Done too ,its probably so you can view the statistics shows where and how many etc are looking at your page

    Chickens?

We have chickens mainly cream legbar x black rock but we get fantastic blue -green eggs from them and we have a few welsummers and some more hybrid breeds plus a few cream legbar cockerels ,I used to keep loads of different breeds from orpingtons to rare breeds like pheasant fowl but numbered down a lot to just a few now I sell the eggs off the door as it pays for their keep then and we get fresh eggs as a result :)good luck with making the house hope the hens like it
  14. Thanks both
  15. I have had a call about a windblown thats down chances are its a T.P.O I just sifted through the info the council sent me regarding T.P.O but cant find anything about windblown and what the procedure is if they are down in a dangerous area i.e children running around and covered by a tpo the people want it cleared for health and safety reasons how soon could i start work on the tree?im just popping over to take a look at it now but wanted to know the situation before i contact the council and make enquiries so i can at least know what to expect to be able to tell the cutomer what is the normal procedure if its a tpo and its completly down?
  16. Oh I like the choc one! that would go down well by me I know a few restraunts etc locally who my freinds work in which get high end customers with the large estates thanks for sharing there are certainly some good designs there

  18. Oh would these be the forms they are asking me to fill in showing where the tree are located in relation to the property address etc ?and the info of what is to be done etc I posted two of those out yesterday as two of the jobs I have booked in for June are in two seperate conservation area's.The forms had a checklist that requested 3 copies plus orginal forms with diagram seemed like a lot of paperwork I was going to ask when I spoke to them next is it really neccassary for the copies?, I have another tree surgeon local to me coming out next week I was gonna ask him what he does with them as he deals with the same LA .I came across all the c.a area maps online after I done a search they only sent me the one covering my local area :001_rolleyes:but its better to be aware of what areas your in and do things properly thanks for the advice:thumbup1:
  19. Well done !:thumbup1:this is on my to do list next was reading up on it nice to hear of somebody else doing it and to know they provide the trailer and what the costs are etc at least I will know what to expect im not sure how far out I missed it by but its about time I sorted it.
  20. I have suffered with carpel tunnel off and on over the past few years comes and goes had physio which seems to help when I remember to do it but I have had it bad the past couple of nights to the point of being sat up in bed waiting for the tingling and pain in my hand/elbow to clear off I feel so tired atm .They said I could have it operated on but I chose not to as it comes and goes ,How long did the op take and how long is the recovery supposed to be? Hope you recover quickly from it and hope it makes a big difference and hope the next op goes ok on the other arm you will be back to work before you know it .I cant stand it when I lose sleep from it seriously thinking about getting it done as I dont want it affecting my work.
  21. Omg you wanna be more carefull there is nothing worse than a grumpy old man with a chainsaw:lol: your post has made me laugh but crikey he had some issues to come at you like that ,glad to hear he chilled out in the end
  22. Thanks for the advice everyone :001_smile:the tree officer just rang me back after I left a message for them the other day they were very helpfull unlike the call center and whoever the planner was they spoke to when I originally started this thread.I have a customer with a eucalyptus tree that has frost damage that is in a conservation area so wanted to know what exactly they required me to do to notify them she was really helpfull and is sending all the info ,maps etc out covering their rules and regs regarding conservation areas and tpo's she said anything over 4 inch in a conservation requires consent 6 weeks notice but they are sending it all through for me to read through so I feel much more happier now I spoke to them and know I have the correct info lol.And I will take your advice about being vauge and enquiring but I certainly will be doing things by the book and doing them properly now I will know how to lol
  23. I only caught the end of this on tv but just watched it on the i-player well what can you say they are everywhere and I think everyone else has voiced good opinions on it ,I cant understand how people like that can sleep at night knowing they are swindling the elderly and vunrable:thumbdown:
  24. Thanks both I was getting myself all wound up just now over it and thinking about freedom of info act and stuff, its Newport gwent call center I spoke to I went to the old offices this morning as wanted to speak to a tree officer in person but they had moved their offices to a new site which I later found out I had drove straight past on the way home. They have renamed it the newport information center so I was looking for the usual Newport city council logo and did not spot it so I ended up ringing them instead. I think when the tree officers rings me back I will have a word with her and in the meanwhile will take a look online to see if there is anything covering this area thanks for the advice
