  1. aw make me feel guilty why dont you whats your id so I can find you ?
  2. My date is booked for my next one im in in July finally got it drawn up by Gypsy Jayne's Tattoo Studio in Risca for anyone who knows that area (I dont normally head that way and didnt know about her until recently)I would recomend her she is pretty good and has a face book page with all her work on and she does amazing cover up work .She has drawn up what I asked her to design for me I gave her a rough idea and she made it come to life so cant wait to get my new tree tattoo done now will add a pic once its done
  3. You have got a plan which is more than some people do and ambition to drive you then you will do just fine. I didnt start up until over a year ago and im 33 this year I still need my trailer licence and a few more tickets I have an ongoing muscluar/ligament issue with leg pain which I am trying to sort before I do my next tickets as I know it will hold me back and is a big confidence thing for me had physio etc didnt work now trying yoga next stop sports therapist but I am determined and I know I am capable and I will sort it soon.I wish I had known years ago as would of ventured of to arb college and done it that way instead of doing tickets I absolutley crave to learn more but find it hard with everything else I have to deal with to fit it all in arbtalk is an amazing place to pick up helpfull info etc so do your research check how many companies are already operating in your area in your area check what methods of advertising work etc . If you know what you want then go for it I know people who started up much later than you but as others have said there are a lot out there who are doing it then your up against general builders etc who are willing to take chainsaws to peoples trees for half the price a proffesional would charge with no experience at all its scary what some people are willing to do I have so many customers say to me I wish I could work outdoors and do what your doing .Good luck
  4. Its like spot the arb on there lol if You didnt get a new follower its because you aint got a profile pic or anything to indicate your arb related lol
  5. I will add you all on mine now but you will probably guess which one I am so no point in me shouting it out on arbtalk I only ever add useless pictures to mine anyway lol
  6. Lit mine yesterday even though it was not cold these old cottages get chilly inside.
  7. I started a thread on this recently as need some new ones most people seemed to suggest Pfanner Stretch Airs im going to take a look at the arb show if I manage to get there in time I just hinted to the hubby I may be buying a few bits and bobs tip toeing around the subject lol. I need to try before I buy as had Husqvarna C type before in a small and they were huge on me im currently using hi flex in a size s and they fit well so there is a real difference between different makes but I want to take a look at the stretch air and see how their size small fits,I find hi flex scag a lot when you have areas that have bramble growth they always catch the material down lower on the front and then your trousers end up looking scruffy and its important to look like you have not been dragged though a bush backwards as much as possible when you have private customers to deal with lol. Hope you find somthing that fit's its always worth asking for everyones opinions
  8. I have magnetic signs on my cab just for reasons like this they can be removed asap but got caught out the other day I get a few loud mouthed tradesmen that think they are clever and like to associate theirselves with me whilst im working I had one the other week fitted a fence for a regular customer of mine. What I didnt realise was he had talked her into removing severel conifers to put the fence in he had the cheek to approach me out the front garden before he cleared off with his paycheck I seen him out the front and I said you must be the person fitting the fence he replied yes its all done now and said if he got any work he would recomend me so I kinda went yeah ok same for you too me being polite . Then I walked around the back to find conifer had been bashed up all over her lawn it was everywhere in the flower beds all over the grass and im not taking small bits either there were sticks all over enough bits to fill 3 ton sacks the moron and not only that they had kicked gravel out of her gravelled areas all into the lawn I was fuming how can somebody leave a customers garden in that mess I really hope the neighbours didnt think he had anything to do with me as I wouldnt recomend him to anyone jack of all trades my customer said he didnt have a chipper and they cut it up in front of her with no ppe on the lawn. I felt bad because a few weeks earlier she asked if I done fencing and I said no because its simply somthing I dont do I wish I had said yes now as would of done a better job than what this blokey did, fence posts sat in clay soil no post crete meta posts or creosote wrapper things now I dont know much about fencing but I would say going off fence posts I have on my land in very similar soil 5 years tops before they rot through in wet soil like that unfortunatly I did not cath the mans name but I know he advertises in the same catalogue directory thats local to me so will be looking out for it and warning others to avoid
  9. Have a look on facebook at a group called the gower charcoal makers they have some rather large kilns they use to burn theirs I would love to know where they get them from we get loads of stick that could be used for charcoal making only downside is it looks really messy ,you may be able to pick up some tips off their page or off them direct
  10. Arbtalk is awesome although I have not posted much when I have done previously you guys have been fantastic and responded to any queries I have had quickly and have been very supportive some of the info is extremley usefull I dont get as much time around others as I would like as I cant work the hours you guys do so find arbtalk a really good resource for keeping up to date with stuff and general banter I dont have time for other forums and even if I did arbtalk would still be the best
  11. Aw I would just leave her sit and then fill it up what's the incubation period for a pheasant chickens 21 days pheasant cant be that's much more surely?or stick the eggs under a broody and block the area off from her accessing it
  12. Thanks for the response I just wondered that's all I would of guessed myself it was power line clearance being next to the lines if we had not of heard them on site but for anyone who was a landowner to find a tpo removed without any contact I would imagine would be a bit of a shock. hubby bumped into them again earlier as when they were working didn't have their paperwork on them but when he seen them after they were in their vehicle so he signed it all for them then and at least I know they are on site now so will have to keep my dogs on a lead its lucky we heard the saws earlier otherwise would of been none the wiser as the dogs would of gone to investigate im sure they wouldn't of appreciated being chased by two german shepherds lol they probably thought hubby was tree hugger going to protest about them removing the trees when he first saw them:biggrin:
  13. I did pop up to go and speak to ask myself but they had packed up by the time I got there so just wondered if anyone here could tell me instead
  14. Just a quick question my hubby bumped into some contractors on our ground this morning doing power line clearance when he asked who they were and what they was doing they told him they was going to fell one of our tpo trees I Just been up to look at it and have no problem with them doing their job but as a landowner shouldn't we of been notified of this as its a t.p.o tree?just wondered what the procedure is for them.I would say it needs removal due to the size and the fact the ground is so wet there if it did go over which it will do as the others near by have already upturned it would take the power lines out when it goes so prevention is better than cure but just wondering why nobody informed us or has tried to contact us and is that the way it normally works?
  15. Definately Oak and dead Elm I had a huge dead elm brought to me from a farmer friend two years back and it made fantastic firewood
  16. Im not saying im too busy and not going to get it done though I have full intentions of getting it sorted asap its just the months the appointment is likely to come on is the two months I know I will have enough work in that will cover me for my down time when I have the op later in the year where as if I did not work those two months and took the op then I would lose that income for those two months and when christmas drew closer chances are I would have little work anyway so It just makes sense to delay the appointment slightly after all somebody has to pay the bills and being self employed I dont even think I would be entitled to anything on the sick so I would need to cover my down time financially . The pain comes and goes so its not constant and does not affect my work Justme I really do have sympathy for you that sounds really bad the specialist did ask if I had neck pain but I know I do not it sounds like yours has reached the stage the specialist said would happen if I did not get it done with muscle weakness etc they did warn me that the op itself may cause me hand to be weaker but atm I am pretty sure I have a firm grip and no weakness other than when I initially wake up in the mornings I know what you mean by not eing able to bend the fingers as thats how min are when I wake I can not make a first but once my hand wakes up its fine. I dont think what I have is as severe as it can get thankfully even though I have had it for as long as I can remember(can recal writing in school and my hand playing up) but only really started getting pain with it 8 years ago when it started disturbing my sleep which does not happen that often I went through a really bad phase of it a few years back but then that stopped as quickly as it had started I know their little machine showed my result all in the amber colour if that means anything the specialist say it indicated how severe it is but I have no idea what colour represented what. Good luck with you op and thanks to everyone for their input I do know its important and im stubborn but after waiting as long as I have I cant see an extra couple of months making much difference to my recovery I have been through a lot worse just wanted some input as to how others got on after their op did they got complications and how long did they take to sort before getting back to work?
  17. Mine is still the same as before but there is now a picture box on the screen with a photo of the field opposite my house all working fine on my pc ,pictures definately outdated though the i am seeing are at least 2-3 years old
  18. Thanks Dan yeah I know what you mean with cubital as I was suspected with it when I saw the doctor last the pain had spread up from my wrist up the the rear of my elbow coming over on to the top of my arm above the joint but if I pressed in the gap of the joint with arm held straight it hurt at the time speaking to the specialist today he said im definate for carpel but the test did not check for cubital they want to sort the carpel first and if the other pain continues then they will deal with that at a later date but he also said what may be causing the pain further up is the fact I have had it for so long that I have adapted my handling techniques to avoid the pain and numbness that triggers the carpel tunnel in certain positions so that may of led to causing the other pain. I have had everything checked right down to my bloods for arthritis and on paper im all good but these ligament pains can be bad when they get really bad mine tend to come and go If I was you I would insist on a re test when yours gets bad or is it like it constant?have they checked for arthritis?there is always that worry of HAVS I saw a specialist several months ago when I had the elbow pain he done tapping and pressure points on my arms and said it appears to be cubital tunnel as well as carpel tunnel but only the nerve tests will tell but yet they did not test for it today. its taken me years of complaining to even get the tests I had physio and wrist straps and everything for mine before they would put me in for the nerve tests initially started very bad 8 years ago !I hope you manage to get your sorted and find the cause
  19. I know but the contract im looking at is really important for me as it leads to long term work around the hours I work around my children which is difficult to get from anywhere these days and is part of a larger project and I have been shortlisted for the position which is one of the best opportunities my business could have this year so I really want the work hence why I am happy to delay the op until at least the clearance job is complete as I will be doing the cutting but will not have to deal with any of the lugging as they are providing the man power for all that side of it and the remaining part of the contract work will be mostly advising organising and instructing people as there will be a lot of planting installing birds boxes etc to be done at the end. The pain I get comes and goes and more recently back last year went further up my arm which led me to go back and see the doctors when it was really bad it actually feels ok at the moment and has done for a while just the usual carpel tunnel symptoms which I can live with its when it disturbs my sleep it bothers me most.I know its really important to get the op done and I will do I did ask if it was ok and the specialist said it would be I just hope the booking system is not stricter when my appointment letter comes through. If i dont recover though and end up with complications then thats another story then I would have to take somebody on short term. but how many have re covered from the op and been back to work after the 4 weeks ? but for the sake of waiting an extra 2-3 months I dont think the time would amke much difference to my health the specialist said if I didnt have the op I would end up with muscle wastage in the hand which im guessing is not present now as I do have a firm grip just not first thing in the mornings when I wake up
  20. Finally got through the system for nerve conduction went to my appointment this morning and they stuck the adhesive thing over my wrist and fingers plugged me into a machine and tested my nerves sure enough a definate result for carpel tunnel specialist has told me my appointment for my op will be in about 3 months time only thing is it completely clashes with a clearance contract I have lined up for August /Sept I told the specialist I will be busy around that time and is there any way to delay the op he said yes but I will have to speak to the booking in people how many of you have managed to fit your op in around a busy schedule?I was told 4 weeks down time for recovery did anyone else take longer than this?Im afraid if I put it off to many times they may refuse to do it or somthing but I do not want to lose the work if I get it and I know I will be quieter when its closer to christmas time
