  1. IMO go and work for a company do the job day in day out, then after a year or so you should be there or thereabouts.
  2. Love that area, sandy soil, scots pine, birch etc plus laden with rich clients!
  3. Henfield is in West Sussex, are you talking about chip or brash?
  4. Really? mine has, are you sure?
  5. When clients give you the old "I don't like cutting down trees but...." I often say "I do, I really love it, I hate trees and love to see them die!" (you do need a client with a sense of humour) One really irritating woman had a walnut reduced in a field, did not really need it but she insisted she knew best and hey, a man's gotta eat, when I had finished it and she was writing out the cheque she said "If that tree could talk it would say thank you that feels better to have all that weight off" I said If that tree could talk it would say "ARRRGGGGG why did you cut my branches?" Don't worry the cheque cleared.
  6. I have the same machine TB016 where did you get the grab? mines piped for a pecker so it should work. Thanks in advance; Mick
  7. I hope the day improved! have you got your nptc for bag filling?
  8. Why not go that little bit bigger and get a decent 35hp TW or greenmech? (or jensen)
  9. Bad bad stuff, I have just got back to work after a tumble, broke 6 ribs, 10 days in hospital, epidural, lots of pain, loss of money etc, people were always saying "oh that"s terrible! are you ok? what bad luck!" and I was thinking, "no it's not, it"s me being a bloody careless fool!" I wish you a quick recovery, all the best. Mick
  10. I put a reward up and got mine back, the thief tried to collect the reward! needless to say I paid nothing and got it back. I have never heard of a dodgy chipper out here. (in France)Where they go? God only knows!
  11. You'll have worse days i'm sure! Odd to find it that high in a single stem tree.
  12. So what is it? an old iron fence?
  13. You're not having a lot of luck lately! Over here to hire a machine (of any significance) one (the hirer) needs an insurance in place in case it's stolen, hope the same applies over there.
  14. fair enough, go to their name on the original post and hover your arrow over it, a drop down menu will appear saying "send a pm to the poster" or something like that, then follow your nose.
  15. Thank you Treebloke, excellent guidance.
  16. One of the best river crossings I saw was on Long Way Round with Ewan Magregor and that other bloke, a Russian lorry driver crossed a raging torrent whilst towing what looked like an old Transit, I am sure someone remembers; best bit of the show.
  17. If it's a new saw it should start no problem, there must be something wrong, take it back to the dealer.
  18. Will it do a a West Side Story medley?
  19. Got my transit over 10 years ago, paid for itself 50 times over. you got a nice looking truck there. you won't regret it.
  20. Fair enough, thanks for the advice, I guess it's 3.5 tonne or BIG.
  21. My brother has one, says it's the nuts!
  22. I think they are brothers. Butler and 10 Men (i may be wrong)
  23. Thanks, see it now, bear looks in pain though:confused1:
  24. Like many people on here I have always wanted to have access to my own grab/tipper lorry. I have noticed that there are a few 7.5 tonners that tip with a decent crane knocking about at a reasonable price. Has anybody used one for tree work? Does the weight of the crane render your carrying capacity laughable. Appreciate any experiences or thoughts.
  25. Hi there, as you can see I am out in France and have had the flywheel bearings changed on my 30/150 2003 a couple of times. I have not been happy with the guys doing it and have finally found a fitter with whom I am confident. Could you give me the id numbers for the bearings so I can source them here (won't be a problem I think they are Italian if memory serves) that will save time when he replaces them.

    Best regards Mick Dempsey
