  1. I would've thought any agricultural engineer to sort that out in an hour, 100 quid lighter, back to work.
  2. TBH Rob if you are offering a full time job then yes, I can understand it. For a few freelance days however I can see why some people might be a little laissez-faire. I mean most firms would say "come along for a day and let's see what your like" Cvs don't count for much really do they?
  3. Well explained, simple but effective diagram. food for thought there.
  4. good answer!
  5. Good video. The Giant Redwood video is (in my opinion) the best on here.
  6. Well yes to a point, I think that with millions watching and in the stands we have the right to watch the whole thing, not shortened to spare Italy's embarrassment. If Spain had got another goal; more entertainment, more excitement. Spain could have sat back at 2.0. against 10 men but chose to hammer the nail in. Good for them.
  7. Screw down the throttle cable so it cannot rev out fully, then unscrew after the test, cardboard on the rad so it's red hot during the test, worked for the last 4 years on my Tranny.
  8. I'd hazard a guess you have already got a pretty good idea who it was.
  9. No need to apologise, you posted under another name for many years. As for the rest, false piety. Mick Dempsey
  10. Having watched the match, Spain are not too bad! (just edged it)
  11. :confused1: even my missus would not say that!
  12. Italy 'cos I like teams to play with a proper centre forward, tika-taka bores me rigid!
  13. Call me curmudgeonly (or worse!) but I find all this "thoughts going out to them and their families" a bit well....stupid, people are being killed, starved, bombed to death in their thousands everywhere and as soon as someone posts some reference to it, there's a race to send out "thoughts to them and their loved ones" If it"s Arb related or like a tsunami or something ok fair enough. There I said it.
  14. Compris:001_smile:
  15. Have been on jobs where that sort of chipper has been used and they are not up to the job. you were on here recently complaining about the amount of belts it has eaten! just saying it as I see it. With hindsight would you have bought a roadtow 6 inch from the off?
  16. 80 odd trees, 20 working days, 2 climbers= 2 per day per climber. That's got to be day rate!
  17. Oh and another thing, I notice that on another thread you are talking about day rates etc, with a decent 6in chipper you could charge another 50 quid a day, with a foodblender you're not really going to get away with charging anymore. Anyway you're safe now I've got it off my chest!
  18. So he wasn't just acting thick.
  19. Ok your choice, but chippers have never been cheaper, a 750kg tw/jensen/greenmech with reasonable hours can go for as little as 4 to 5 grand on earborist. They are all real money making machines. Even an old Arbor-eater or Gravely can go for peanuts and make you a lot more money than some spanky new food blender.
  20. noooooooooooo! bigger in the name of god bigger!
  21. Don't get anything gravity fed, less than 25hp, with only one roller. Anything smaller will put hours on your week instead of reducing it. Testcricket is right; get the very best you can afford on finance.
  22. 'bout right, thing is once you get proficient you really should start finding your own work. By the time your 35 or so (give or take) 120 won't be enough and younger, hungrier climbers will be taking your subby work. something to look forward to!
  23. Bought this little beauty yesterday. Massey 35; 1962 (year older than me!)
  24. Ok, been keeping an eye on this thread, so now I am jumping in, I have two woodburners and have encountered many problems and think that I picked up some info along the way. 1;single skin pipes will always clog up, the water in the smoke condenses quickly to form sludge, angles make it worse, I know because this happened to mine until I replaced the whole lot; built an external chimney, lined it and capped the top. Only sweep it 3 times a winter instead of every week! The key is to get the smoke out before it cools.
  25. Random question; would this firm of impeccably conscientious tree surgeons have any connection to you at all. Or were you a client of theirs? just asking. ps welcome to the forum!
