  1. Hey Jon, did you ever get that sunny break over here?
  2. Hi there Paul, Devil's advocate and all that but it seems that the new CE has absolutely no background in the business, was that the case with the previous incumbent?
  3. Thank God for that! I'm not alone.
  4. I constantly talk and sing songs to my dog whilst driving, I often change the lyrics of my favourite songs to include her. Much to the bemusement of work collegues. Anyone who works with me has to greet the dog every morning and say goodbye at the end of the day! Am I alone in my ridiculous over affection? (Picture included)
  5. My Franco Belge runs all night and all day, mind I have to rod the liner in the chimney every month or so. only takes 20mins max. The black glass does not worry me really. I discovered that the manufacturer had omitted to put smoke rope around the top of the glass, presumably to keep it clean, this ruined the lockdown so I added some et voila 12 hour burning.
  6. I think you're wrong, nice little job like that on your way home, pays the groundy's wages, do it right you'll be doing it twice a year for ever! These littl'uns are the cherry on the cake after a days tree cutting. There is no need to rush over when the client asks for a price, only when you're nearby.
  7. I reckon 7O quid if you took away the clippings.
  8. :confused1::confused1:
  9. Anyone on here live or work in Denmark? Perhaps they could tell us about the timeline from discovery to this near extinction. why has this not swept through Western Europe like the black death? Should I buy more saws? Is this overblown scaremongering?
  10. Thanks for the reply, There are always certain firms in an area who lead the way, when small potatoes like me see them taking work with mewps the vans go silent on the way home as we start to figure out how to get one. Jealousy and greed, it's what drives us all on!
  11. Hi Paul, You are one of my "go to" posters, ie when I see your name I will often check out what you have to say because you put your points across well. I don't want to come out with the old "in the real world" nonsense because I daresay you paid your dues. It's just that I think you are banging your noggin against a wall with all this Mewp stuff. Of course they are brilliant for the right job and can make money, but day to day it's just not going to happen. Most blokes here work one or two days on a job max, back gardens, tight access, you know the score. Its all about money, they are not going to fork out to buy or rent if they can climb cheaper If you keep jumping in on every thread when someone has a problem cimbing to say "have you tried a mewp? ask your boss for a mewp! your knees won't hurt in 20 years time if you get one" you risk perhaps going off message with some people, just sayin' best regards Mick
  12. I'll pm you now.
  13. Yeah mine can be a pig, fell off once! now won't loosen, won't tighten, which in a way is good! Ps Timberwolf (member) did uou get my PM about bearing serial numbers?
  14. Only three in three years! pretty good going I'd say.
  15. I have had (and have) both marques in my range the only one I will not swap is the MS200t apart from that they are all both good. that is all I will say on this age old debate.
  16. All this hand wringing is doing no good, the question is "what are we as tree surgeons (the go-to group for all the world's problems") going to do about this? I have the answer: if while quoting in a posh area with seemingly responsible middle class parents, one asks the client how many children they have, if in your opinion (as the arbiter of these things) they could improve the gene pool with another sprog, you offer a discount if he goes upstairs with the missus and has a go at another. (you will need to witness the act in order to ensure value for money) if he refuses or is "not in the mood" offer your own services and hey presto! another Toby or Jemima on the way. Conversely whilst in Liverpool or somewhere dreadful like that ooop north, stop a Chav on the street and ask him how fertile him and Bianca/Jordan/Chelsea are. if in your opinion they are opossum like in their reproduction take your chainsaw and effect a quick sterilization, A few less Shakiras and Tysons. Once again Arboriculturalists save the day! Ps if you think this is a stupid post read some of the rest of the rot posted earlier
  17. I was reacting to earlier posts which suggested no accountability for soldiers actions.
  18. By not going on a march I am prejudging them?
  19. I did not judge, that is why I said there will be due process.
  20. Clever use of bales, were you 100% confident?
  21. I have used a little Echo, thought it was brilliant, won't be buying one mind, i'll stick with the Stihl, however was great for light reductions, easy to use one handed, easy to pull around. Better than a Silky!!!!
  22. Ideally a waxed jacket if it rains/freezing they have the bonus of not being ruined if you have a burn up. plus they take on an odour unlike any other!
  23. There will be due process, just because they are soldiers (by their own choice) does not mean they can do as they like. Count me out of any march.
