  1. Hi I have a 130 300 tdi what sort of ball park figure for that conversion? Mick
  2. He did:001_smile:
  3. Back to the op, my missus buys a job lot of sweatshirts and t shirts from primark or tk maxx in neutral colours whenever we go back to uk. they last a few months but at those prices who cares?
  4. Yes, had a good run lately, best since before the crisis, the improvement in the pound over here has helped. green shoots and all that....
  5. Flounced out around a week ago, (for good he said!) he's back already.
  6. I load my Rayco 1625 on my tranny when I have to, trick is use decent ramps and tip the bed a bit to lessen the angle from the ramp onto the bed, plus point the tranny downhill where possible when loading.
  7. That sounds a lot like "go away for a bit, hopefully don't come back" Can any techie here explain why this might be true?
  8. Looked tidy, I guess there is a bottom limit to what a tipper can make due to its money making capacity. Amazing value when you think that at 400 odd quid a day (what a two man team should earn) it would take no more than a week and a halfish to pay for.
  9. So what did you get for it?
  10. I always called it cryptomeria japonica elegans;
  11. I guess the dog knows to move when you start up the landy.
  12. Looks like Vic Reeves on the splitter.
  13. It seems obvious to me that you should have used a chainsaw.
  14. Wish I was young enough to do it myself. Enjoy and good luck!
  15. Most of it looks pretty dry, been dead for ages, lost its bark etc, I reckon you have around a cubic meter there at a guess.
  16. Hi Mike, Drill some holes with the chainsaw around the edge (just inside the cambium) and pour some neat Round Up or any glyphosphate based weedkiller in the grooves. Cover if risk of rain to prevent wash out. Works every time. Mick Dempsey
  17. Too true, and considering the money some groundsmen get, I think expecting them to behave like airline pilots off duty is a bit unreasonable. Hangovers, or still a bit stoned after a heavy night, just a fact of life for lots of people who earn their corn.
  18. Thought it had been law for years.
  19. Yeah, loads of times, even had one bloke disappear and come back after smoking some smack! If he was smoking dope sack him then rehire him a day later if you are in the brown stuff.
  20. Alright, it's Monday afternoon and I am a bit bored so I will give my opinion. 1;That looks like two trees that have grown together, not one that has been struck by lightening. 2; When you fit the cobra bracing do not under any circumstances cut what is already there, the result may well be a free ride to the hospital/morgue. 3; Give them both a light reduction to lessen the weight. Like Shane said that's only my opinion.
  21. By the way it"s Sunday, anyone fancy a pint?
  22. Just do it; easier to apologize than ask permission.
  23. We used to use old bed sheets on the floor and wrap the armful of brash in the same. And make sure you charge plenty!
  24. Good vid, I definitely prefer revving chainsaws and nervous breathy grunting to music anyway. Well done.
  25. Now, this is why I am glad I am only a contractor, in a place like Kew every tree in the public arena will have been checked and risk assessed. Somewhere along the line someone would have looked at it and thought "um cedar, fairly snappy, sheds easily, big footfall......should we strap/cable it?" and someone said "no" like I said glad I'm just a contractor and don't have to take decisions like this.
