  1. Something I saw a while ago was a postcard with your return address on it and a small section on it saying their name/contact details and then 3 tick boxes. I would be interested in tree pruning tree removal hedge cutting and they ticked the box. That they wanted * tailor it too your service. That way if they want to reply its already sorted for them and they can post it or recycle it. Just another idea
  2. No difference but I have 2 on mine after getting a swivel I keep both just when I occasionally use 2 lines. I'm soon changing to a 2015 petzl sequoia with a round rope bridge and going to use a hitch climber on the bridge.
  3. Is that something you made or where did you get it?
  4. That job looks cool id of liked to be on it with ya.
  5. yep i did it. keep the system simple so prussick and rope. i think keeping the kit to a minimum and dont go too complex once he has the principles he will be ok the main thing of difference is trees move and flex rock does not. so i can see that being the most difficult thing. he should know how strong harness ropes etc are so i dont see that being a problem.
  6. dmm would be my choice. ive used the petzl ball locks when working on a go ape style tree top trail course in a previous career. I found they did not last well for long and regulary got gummed up. but any karabiner kept in good condition will be safe. it comes down to personal preference.
  7. yes you can replace with any rope as long as it is of a correct diameter. and of correct type i.e. dynamic/static/semi-static. but the landyard's have a stitched eye already in them and the other end is sewn together so you can not fall off the end of the rope.
  8. decent size garage in my home town. never go anywhere else I know most of the mechanics by first name. my car isn't new enough to justify main dealer use. get the van done by someone else he has already cost you enough energy time money and a bit of health. time to get out.
  9. hi guys not totally tree related be made me chuckle Fire crews take the bull by the horns and rescue Billy from a tree
  10. don't get 50m of steel wire get 50 m of cheap rope run the pulley on it. *that would solve the pulley problem. if you get static rope i.e. no stretch that will help with sag. with a rope you can create a breaking system if you put an alpine butterfly knot (x) number of feet/meters away from the tirfor. also if you have a cheap rope as a haul back system you can tie that off so the log stops before the end. but last time I used a zip line the log hit the floor and stopped before it got to the end of the line. sorry if my writings a bit sporadic
  11. £25-30 per night I wouldn't go lower than £20.
  12. When you said you had bo where to store it I thought that utilising your contacts would be useful and their yard is already pretty secure because they want to protect their stuff already. The idea of a transit tipper and cheap car are possible but I never liked it as its 2 sets of tax mot insurance fuel and running costs. But that's my opinion. I know a guy who uses a tipping trailer very well with his defender 110.
  13. 4x4 with tipping trailer I think would cover most options. Consider asking to store your trailer at one of the guys yards you sub for in return for beer/anything else relatively cheap/easy for you. *maybe any wood you get from your private jobs =less for you to dispose of. Invest in good trailer hitch locks.
  14. I have a great berghaus base layer crewneck zip. I prefer polo t-shirt on top I think polo tshirts look smarter than round/ crew neck ones
  15. Try dean at global recycling. They do bandit stuff and advertise on the side bar of arbtalk
  16. You cant use spikes on a live tree that is being kept in place. Unless it is an emergency to rescue a climber. Start with a pole saw and crown lift what you can Then try ladder, throwline,to get yourself up. Another idea is if you have an extendable pole saw coil some rope up put it over the largest best limb. Then pull it down with the pole saw keep the sheath on if afraid of snagging ur rope
  17. any job can be made nicer by working with a good team. * I don't always work with the same groundie/climbers. a nice big rigging job and like steve bullman was saying about making big pieces land in small gaps but doing it with rigging and not pinging the boss out of the tree at the same time. there is no type of work I prefer over the other its the feeling on the day. nice customer not too many targets groundie's are on it like sonic not too hard of a clear up.
  18. I believe pictures and a name of said chipper is required to aid application kevcal
  19. Field archery targets from 10 yards to 80yards. Nice social atmosphere. I shoot once to twice a week for practice and a competition once every month. Or being with the wife.
