  1. Variety is key. I would have 1 person that specifically is help them they teach them and any problems the trainee comes to them. Mentor sort of. When it comes to jobs it will be down too the time you have on the job the money and what you need doing. Little bit by little bit. You could get them to climb and fetch a sling at the end of the day before the rope comes out. When you do aerial rescue training add some extra time for them and mentor to teach him some climbing. Give it time and don't rush the training. Wishing you all the best for you and your trainee
  2. Just a thought for getting it on to a trailer /van if you can put it on an 8x4 sheet and the pull/push/slide the sheet of ply up ramps or strap up the root plate put blade down on digger lift up root plate and then reverse trailer/ Can under. Prob thought of it already.
  3. Sorry for a slight derail but are the saws on huztl.net complete saws that just need putting together
  4. Stump grinder is the only way to go. You could post on here where you are and what you need. There could be an owner operator. That could help
  5. Hi Alex being competent and fluid will come with time. A good idea that might help. Plan a few moves move your rope to the best place do the few cuts them plan the next bit. And by pulling your rope through you get a 2 min break to catch your breath and plan the next bit.
  6. hello boys and girls of arbtalk. 7. i cant remember when or where it happened. but i remember a story of a tree surgeon working on a tree on a steep river bank. he had 2 trees to dismantle his main anchor was in the tree slighty further back. working on the other tree and felt the tree move the whole land with the tree slipped down to the river. he removed or cut his work positioning strop to be free of the tree. my main point is there are lots of dangers that we are not used too. be aware of everything and expect the unexpected. stay safe
  8. iam thinking of moving to srt. how do you find srt on your bdy compared to drt?
  9. well good luck to you mattyf hope you get a working solution.
  10. that's good to know you would change to an xsre. i personally see it as ppe as the karabiner is required to make the ropeman work properly so as the ropeman is supporting you and the karabiner is supporting the ropeman then it is PPE. i know there is a stopper knot which is a good back up. but thats my opnion and each to their own.
  11. hi guys i am not an expert on the ropeman part of this setup but feel that has been addressed. the thing i first saw was the snap link karabiner does not look rated for PPE. stay safe Ian C
  12. as said earlier in the thread. the biggest problem is boots on the ground. the same tonnage 0f timber and brash will need to go out of the garden so if you drag winch or arb trolley/wheelbarrow it out. how about pricing in some repair work re turfing or re seeding as the damage is going to happen unless you get a crane that is.
