  4. Cotoneaster 8inches + Can't ever remember seeing anything that big or is that girth? Where is this leading
  5. Very true In truth though, if customers like you they don't want to complain as it makes them feel bad.
  6. Theres a garage door company on our industrial estate who says the same. It's not arb specific.
  7. The comment about spares is an issue and could swade you. Nissan spares are very costly. I mean £50 for a wing mirror glass. Thats not unusual. I've seen invoices for £20 for a washer.
  8. Cedar is great firewood- People get put off because it's so light when dry but it is good especially 'in the mix'
  9.

  10. why did train weight get brought up:confused1: a 7.5 tonner is loaded and if your gvw is less than this (ie legal) you don't have to do 40 on a single carriageway. You can go a whole 10mph faster. Great for winding up the 'following you so closely' kids
  11. Had them for 25 years. The older ones had terrible ride but were bombproof though the steel truck bodies tended to rust from day one. Now got the latest independent cab which makes them nicer to drive but we're having EGR issues and a cracked manifold just cost £700 to replace. Carry wise, they're fantastic. 3 in a cab- they are shall we say.....................intimate:001_smile:
  12. Just done a speed awareness course and we were told and given the booklet The law is, according to Kent police. Car derived vans up to 2 tonnes= 60 on single carriageways + 50 if towing Goods vehicles- (check your tax disc to know- PLG)-if less than 7.5tonnes= 50 on single and 60 on dual (central reservation)- this will be most of us. Goods vehicles exceeding 7.5t=40 on single and 50 on dual 60 on motorways So there you go- we all break the law daily.
  13. £8K worth of saws. Does that include damage waiver What about theft? Without these two I'd guess £2K p.a. maybe £3Kmax +VAT
  14. No rates on a farm... exclamation mark Is that true ??? No wonder theres so much business activity on farms
  15. I'll stick with Orange- they're fantastic:biggrin:
  16. I was looking at the tree and thinking young chestnut. Am I so far out:confused1:
  17. Surely anything is better than the stihl caps:sneaky2:
  18. Ain't that the case tennants would only complain if you did a 'good' job.
  19. You only need one groundie with chapter 8
  20. Very interesting thread Just thought that based on the level of rot in the stem, is the tree going to wait 25 years. But I guess the low targets mean it's one to have as a arborists project rather than an insurance nightmare!
  21. We used to use a piece of cotton wool dipped in methylated spirits- it dissolves their cuticle wax and suffocates them I believe. Property smells of meths though and that may be a problem if you know what I mean.
  22. Don't overcomplicate it. Just look at the biggest risks and note how you intend to reduce them. A lot will be what they call 'dynamic' which means they are part of your everyday work= chainsaw/ropes/kit- should be covered by your library RA's. Thje ones you really need to note are site specific= nearby school/ kids off/ traffic issues/ inexperienced staff/ weather. These will change with each job. As I said- don't make it too complicated or you won't do it. Someone will tell me I'm wrong but theres no point in a RA if people just do 'formula'
