  1. You're both right But- Having done the course I now have much more confidence to set up roadworks and this means we use them more rather than just cut and hope with someone in the road holding up their hand to stop traffic. All in all well worth splashing out on.
  2. what does he mean by better is it that you don't have to load them so often maybe...
  3. Prob your firm short of work so everyones tense Let it ride over you unless you want to get stuck in of course
  4. If you just want to close the road for up to 2 mins you will need 2 stop go boards. prob just 2 traffic control ahead and 2 men at work- depends if you are working at a complicated junction or not. Prob hire for £30 per week plus you need 8 cones- all less than £50 Plus you need chapter 8 streetworks operative plus a supervisor on the firm- fairly easy course
  5. mile high is only 5000 feet so not possible as the seat belt sign would still be on ......actually:001_smile:
  6. Started with nothing and would love to say that hard work etc was the way and boy have I worked. BUT I look back and sometimes I know that I should have borrowed and got the big kit I needed rather than struggle. What I'm saying is that it is OK to borrow so long as you appreciate it!! Not just for a shiney new vehicle when a second hand one would suffice and leave you with money for a chipper/other kit. Capital investment is good
  7. verify that:thumbup:
  8. any biscuits frankly Preferably not the soft ones that have been kicking around for years ''but the blokes won't mind- they're outside workers'' Give them the chipped mugs too!! Fortunately this happens rarely but when it does- don't you notice it.

  12. they do- 1 operative on site at all times+ 1 supervisor on the firm. The lights should have been on sensor. We got accused this week- 'you're always cutting bits off trees' - yes madam it's to prevent the double decker busses hitting them- Don't get double deckers down here she says. Immediately one appeared. She stormed off muttering- hilarious
  13. Got taken for a meal in the members and a days cricket at the home of Kent cricket- then whilst there given the go ahead on a large contract- nice way to do business I thought. Other than that it's mainly small token amounts and tea which are always gratefully received.
  14. don't even bother- theres no money in it:001_smile:
  15. and yet armillatox used to treat for honey fungus with it wierd
  16. you can't beat the flickering flame.....

  18. well if he docked £200 for that - then he deserved the stone through the window These guys - you only meet them occasionally but when you do they leave a bad taste. I can't work out what makes them tick- must have been bullied when younger gets my vote
  19. Interesting Do you envisage giving them a certificate of training at the completion of the day. What if they are totally crap- do they have to return their saw:thumbup1: That should be fun dealing with. Along the lines of- sorry mate - that saw you bought- well- you gotta give it back cos you are useless and may kill yourself! Good luck Jonsie Think about the legal side of it if one of them does have an accident- would you be covered- just a thought
