  1. You are probably right, long way to the moon!
  2. Blimey, you will be telling me someone has landed on the moon next!
  3. 4 months....warranty repair by the manufacturer!!!
  4. Amsoil, 100:1 mix two stroke, used to sponsor Lowestoft FC powerboat- big Mercury V6 outboard Supercat!
  5. Try this, always a good read - http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/GasbyManufacturer?OpenView&Start=30&Count=30&Expand=31#31 Danarm seem to have manufactured all over the place, this link is the UK section. Always good seeing something older than you spinning up and cutting like a good un.
  6. You can have a business model where you run a saw for two years and sell it on and buy new irrespective of whether it is a decent saw or not. From what I see, most run them till they drop and only then get them serviced, sold on or chucked under the bench. Getting a wreck of a saw ported makes me laugh as it is a bit like taking your grans clapped out fiesta with 150k miles on the clock to the local tuning shop and getting a turbo bolted on and a low ride kit! Cleaning a saw with typical dirt on it should take 30-45 mins, the stuff I get in sometimes takes 2 hours which is pretty unacceptable for a work tool and you do look a bit of a dick when you cant start the tool of your trade for 45 mins because you haven't had it serviced and cleaned regularly. WYK - fines, not too bad but the tank breather was fully covered and that blocked air filter will act like a partial choke and will richen the saw stopping it revving well!
  7. stuff I borrow tends to come back sharpened, oiled, working harder, faster or better....hate people who borrow a sharp plane and return it blunt with a big chunk out of the blade and smile awkwardly before legging it!
  8. It could be the metering arm height being a bit low. Worth checking the impulse line although if this was off, I would expect the saw to scream and keep stalling off idle. It sounds like the saw isn't pumping enough fuel to keep it going - have you checked the flaps on the pump diaphragm - they often perforate! Pressure check the fuel line and fit a new fuel filter as backstop?
  9. Oh dear, I guess we need to think about the issue - sounds like the carb isn't supplying enough fuel. The most common reason is fine chip in the carb gauze strainer. Other less likely issues are split fuel line, fuel filter or air leak. I would normally pull the carb apart, check the metering arm height, the ability of the needle valve to seal, the gauze strainer and both diaphragms. A good clean with carb cleaner and you should be good to go. Pull the strainer out and look at it through a magnifying glass as they can often look clean but are not.
  10. Just needs a bit of regular tlc, I don't get the guys who run their kit in to the ground when it makes their living!
  11. Yes, quite and get the feeling it will be like this again a month or two later after a deep clean!
  12. This owner wants his saw ported - I think if he cleans his air filter he would get 20% Gains for 5 minutes work.
  13. And I believe it is his biggest saw?
  14. These saws are not the easiest to get right, that's for sure! You will also need the magic "D" screwdriver!
  15. That's an easy one, will change the model plate on this 440 to 460
  16. Had a box in today..... I tell my customers to put the saw in a plastic bag and a well padded box with a note including the work to be done, mobile, return address and email - not unreasonable. So, this box has a wreck of a 346, a less of a wreck of a 346 and an extremely tired looking MS440. No note in the box and a good amount of petrol staining on the bottom of the box and it stank of fuel!!! Would you send a load of saws rattling around in a box? Would you send kit without any form of indication of where they are from...many couriers refuse to carry saws and with this as an example, I look forward to early retirement! Not sure what people are thinking of but this takes the biscuit!
  17. But how is it compared to Terry's ported 372?
  18. Damn, he is good....again
  19. I believe all are able to cut wood but I could be wrong
  20. You can always use the Olde English way of spelling Sh&te or the Irish Fe$£ing bell which I personally find more acceptable on forums but the language on here has degraded over the last year or so. This forum is supposed to be a professional forum viewed by members and the general public and don't think it helps us with coming over as a knowledgeable bunch if we are calling each other f ing punts!!!
  21. I found that going up a pin on a rim on my 357 worked faster on sub 8" timber but then it slowed down on the larger stuff. I generally use the standard rim on most saws as if you tune the saw, you can lean on them harder and that is what I like.
  22. Sounds good to me but does it mean I can't call Joe Newton a big girls blouse now
  23. Probably a typo on the listing - ask the seller, seems pretty good and has always been responsive if I have ever had issues!
