  1. Totally agree that the government should be doing more but until they do (if ever) I’ll keep supporting charities like H4H and Veteransfoundation. Shouldn’t have to, but that’s life.
  2. Reminds me of when my colleague found a tupperware box with some talc in it. He took it home to power his nose.

Police are a f-ing disgrace. The only way anything will change is if ALL tradesman pester their MP’s soo much that they then pull the strings needed. Where are you based, I have an 084 that may be able to help if your near Cambs.
  4. Anyone know of any other makes of long reach hedgecutters that use a star spine shaft? Got a Zenoah LRT2300 which needs a new head but parts are difficult to source for this machine. The shaft has 7 spines and is 7mm in diameter.
  5. 1. In east anglia (probably same in the rest of the UK) the quiet period is May and June, from mid July to mid Dec is always manic so i’d suggest making some enquiries now. 2. Sorry, don’t know the NW 3. You’ll need to make some enquiries. Only one district councils local to me run an Arb team, others have tried by soon go back to using contractors. 4. If you can do a level 2 qual in arb, either day release and online, it would give you a good basic knowledge of tree biology, laws, ident, pests and diseases, soil, etc. All good knowledge if you want to be more than a chainsaw monkey with NPTC’s.
  6. Nice rack on this Willow. You can just see a bit of the big limb that failed in the bottom left of the pic.
  7. Richardson Tree Surgery is recruiting an experienced Arborist to join our small, but established and highly respected family-run tree surgery business. A good all-round knowledge of arboriculture is preferred, but applicants with a passion for trees and the desire to learn and work with a professional team would be considered. We are based in Bar Hill, Cambridge and we operate throughout Cambridgeshire and sometimes further afield. For more information contact Edward and Suzie Richardson on 01954 203836 or email [email protected].
  8. Been wanting to replace my Swann since I installed it.
  9. I’ll was planning on advertising mine for sale very soon. It’s the 18hp electric start on the custom cs100 trailer (mk1)
  10. I’ve recently declined a request to fell the rest of a tree, very similar situation but much bigger tree. I would maybe have been more obliging had i not quoted to do the job a few years back, then he gets pikkies in that dismantle the safe half, leaving little decent anchor/rigging points.
  11. But take a pic of the beer mat, just in case it gets thrown out with beer towel that's used to mop up his sick.
  12. It's only hearsay but i believe ignoring it altogether
  13. I very rarely have a problem with the TO's, almost all refusals that i've had are for trees that I also think deserved retaining but the client was adamant they wanted rid. Most of my problems have been dealing with the councils that filter calls and emails through their general call centre or have inexperience personnel in their application support who invalidate an application for ridiculous reasons. It was a great shame when you moved on from SCDC, but they still remain one of the better councils that i deal will and all CA and TPO information is available online, making it really easy. I mostly ask clients to submit applications now in HDC since Brian and Matt have left. I also hear that some local contractors aren't bothering with application now as its become such a hassle dealing with that council. Best wishes, Ed
  14. I think they are fine. I've just bought a short straight one for fruit trees but have had a few c330's. Buy one, i don't think you will be disappointed and as you say, they are half the price of Silkys.
  15. If your a hard worker then you should have no problem being self employed with a mixture of subbing for other companies whilst building up your own work. Just remember that you'll be doing a lot more hours than your current paye situation - full days work + going out quoting + paperwork + maintenance, etc, etc. If you work out your hourly rate wage as self employed it can be pretty piss poor but if you don't mind losing what is currently your off-work time then go for it.
  16. Haven't you heard, The uk will be a mad max style wasteland come 2020.
  17. Thankfully i've recently used the last of the reel of that Oregon shite. I to think it was dangerously aggressive. I wonder if the investigations of the recent fatalities went as far as looking at the chain used on the top handles?
  18. Another Arbtalker that I know recently had his renewal price through from Arborisk. Trusts quote was half the price.
  19. I visited the Sequoias in 2014 on a road trip from Crescent City to San Fran and they were truly awesome. I've now booked this years hols which will include a trip to Kings Canyon, hopefully seeing some nice Sequoiadendrons.
  20. I’ve had a TW150 rad- re-cored a couple of times, was about £125. That was a few years ago.
  21. Exactly the same part broke on my 372. Never found a fix that would hold for more than 5 mins. I think that it's a bad design by Husqvarna, a lot of pressure gets put on that small pin.
  22. Same here. I thought the doc had started the procedure but he was still putting more injection in. After that I felt nothing. Done on a Friday, back at work Monday but let others climb for a few days.
  23. Utter scum, because they can't thieve it, they trash it - and the laws protect these people! If it wasn't for having employees, my security measures would be a lot more efficient at stopping a return visit.
  24. Yeah, that one, a 2010 tw150. Only had it 10 months. Thankfully we have no down time as we just brought our back-up chipper out of retirement but it took a couple of months to get the payout from the insurance.
