  1. Utter cr@p! It's only the unskilled ones who can do it tomorrow cuz their so useless that they don't have much work on. Understaffed - maybe, but I'd rather keep all my guys on in a secure job instead of my old boss who no one liked working for because he was a hire and fire guy as and when he had work, or not. 2. It's 3.5t but it does tow another 3.5t, the truck was one which the dealer had in stock but was a tipper package that Iveco do: 2.3L, 150bhp Electric windows Cruise control Air conditioning Phone bluetooth Uprated suspension Diff lock Sump guard The additional bits were respray, body conversion and fit a tow bar. 4. I suspect it probably has, why, is it pants? Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  5. Finally picked up my new truck. Decided to switch from transits for this one. The iveco dealer was amazing, organised the body and respray for me at very reasonable cost and could have even sorted the sign writing. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  6. Hi Nod, I'm already booked on it and looking forward to it. Gratitude to my wife for a pass that weekend as the 16th is her birthday. See you then, Ed Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  7. Looking gorgeous this year, almost good enough to eat! Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  8. Interesting thread, I was recently quoted £44 per month for £1000 pm payout after 4 weeks off. It was about £68 for a policy where you could claim straight away. Not that good compared to some of the above quotes. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  9. I am still aiming to go AAAC within the next year or two but I do agree with some of you points. I believe that there are at least two approved contractors in my area who have to bring in subbies for their assessed reductions. One in particular, his own reduction work is truly shocking. I also only have L2 + PTI and now that Tech cert has been dropped my only option now seem to be L4dip which I signed up for 2 years ago and very quickly realised that it was no good for me. 11. Hi, I may be travelling well outside of my normal operating area to do a job for a friend who's just North of Malmesbury, Wiltshire. Do we have any members from that locality who'd be kind enough to advise on any tip site for 1 or 2 load of conifer chip? Thanks, Ed Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  12. If they've asked for one then it's best that you submit a notice but you can state that you want ongoing permission for these maintenance works so that you don't need to reapply every two years. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk

  14. I'd never tell you not to go coz i'd get into trouble with Paul, but if your not interested in the fantastically information workshops or demonstrations and only going to get a few bits and bobs then save your time and money and order it online. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  15. For climbing kit, PPE and small stuff, you can get whatever you need from Forest and Arb, Sorbus Int, Buxton, Tree Kit, Northern Arb or Sevsafe. It would have been nicer if Jonesie, Honey Bro and Lister Wilder were there to give a bit more option of which supplier to use. Lots of big kit on show, if that's what you are going for. 19. Hi Eggs, Over the next couple of weekends Tosh is doing a job close-ish to you. He said that he could drop a load off. I think that it will be conifer chip if that's alright. You'll have to remind me of your address. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk

    Bee rescue

It was a balls ache and I wasn't looking forward to the job but thankfully I've priced it right and it's a greatly satisfying getting this job done and saving the bees. According to one of Peter's colleagues, black bees are quite precious, something about tree hives lasting a lot longer and therefore their genes are purer ??? Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
  22. That's a well used 200. Will a new chain catcher still fit over the top of that repair? Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk

    Bee rescue

Hi David, Can't say for certain as the bee man, Peter, was a friend of a friend of the client but I have a feeling that they were staying in the log closer to ground level in the Waterbeach area North of Cambridge, which is about 10 mile from the tree. I'll happily pm you his number if you want to chat with him about it. He likes talking about bees and seems very knowledgable. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk

    Bee rescue

Tackling a large, awkward Willow take down this week which had a long establish hive of Carpenter bees within a big limb overhanging an outbuilding. Problems: bees, restricted access into the garden, heavy limb over the outbuilding, bees, no site close enough to position a crane, neighbours bungalow only 2 metres away and bees. Step 1 - re-pollard the Willow tree. Step 2 - bring in a 17m self drive cherrypicker (after finding one that can fit through the archway into the garden) to section dismantle the awkward limb back to the nest. Step 3 - seal the bees within the nest. Step 4 - using rigging, lower the section of limb containing the bees onto a trolley to be re homed elsewhere. Step 5 - fell the remainder of the tree, cut up and extract. Step 6 - grind down the stump. See more picture on my facebbok page. Conclusion: no damage, live bees, happy bee keepers, happy clients - Tidy. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
