  1. Sorry to hear that Wayne. I totally agree with what you've said. Vans are being targeted every night around here and i do believe the vast majority of this is by Eastern EU immigrants. Our chipper went to a known scum traveller site and the police did f-all. Luckily it was insured and I got most of it's worth back but was still a grand or two out of pocket not including the £££ spent on additional security.
  2. I love mustangs. This was mine....for four days.
  3. I'm seeing more and more truck owned by door-knocker firms displaying the AA signs. The word seems to be spreading very well amongst certain communities.

    Dash Cam?

Just booked a 212 to be fitted into the van tomorrow

Also interested in this. Do they activate on the ignition or do you plug it in when ever you use the vehicle? I'm sure that i've seen night time footage from these catching crimes so some must record 24/7.
  6. All the stump grinder shields that i've purchased have been very flimsy. I tried making my own from the BT style pedestrian barriers but they weren't much better. I'm now using a guard that i've made out of aluminium composite panels and hinges, they seem much more durable.
  7. Yeah, i was diagnosed with an arthritic hip when i was 30 and the doc told me to stop playing rugby to preserve the hip. I'm convinced that had i continued to play rugby the stretching and exercise would have benefited me. I doubt the deterioration rate would have changed much and i certainly wouldn't have had the drastic muscle wastage that i did.
  8. I've recently thought a lot about an exit strategy for my business as I find the management side very tedious and, due to arthritis, i can't climb too much. Surveying bores the shit out of me. My best option is to try and mimic a local arb firm and get others to manage the business whilst I live abroad.
  9. I have never joined the anti-Vespasian brigade BUT NOW YOU'VE CROSSED THE LINE SUNNY BOY!
  10. As long as the drive links aren't tight in the sprocket then personally I wouldn't bother.
  11. Not many have cottoned on to that fact, if they get their 20 year old daughter out sunbathing when the Treeman comes round to quote, it's good for a 10% reduction.
  12. Did you manage to make that trip to Hungary?
  13. Shut your Stella hole Bolam
  14. If i could go back to just climbing trees for £30-35k + bonus, company vehicle, good holiday and pension, I Would.
  15. He probably misheard God.
  16. That is his "extreme" personal view which, as he said, would not be the law of the land. I myself like it when politicians feel free to express personal views rather than lying, evading an answer or just constantly bleeting the party policy lines like most politicians do.
  17. He'll probably be back in a year or two after he discovers that the shittiest job in this industry is running a business. I've run my business for 13 years now and that position would still tempt me if I was younger and my joints weren't crumbling.
  18. Not yet, i've still got three of the old style heads that will hopefully carry on for a while as i have little faith in any of Stihl's updates.
  19. I'm replacing my 265's as they die, going back to Stihl. The power units are good but I hate the echo trimmer heads.
  20. Living in Cambridge cycle city, it's difficult enough to not have a bike on your bonnet when you are making a noise. All electric cars would be carnage.
  21. Yeah, read the books before the tv series started. The screen version has been fantastic, very few deviations from the books. The next book, Winds of Winter, will hopefully come out soon but it's now weird - i don't know if George RR Martin has been involved in the writing of series 7 but will the books now follow the screen or be totally different? My fav characters are the dog and the dwarf. Sansa has always annoyed me but I think she may now be developing into a badass.
  22. Sorry to hear that Peter. We had one of our chippers stolen from site on Monday. It had a hitch lock on but they dragged it out and just had someone holding it from the back of their Ford mondeo. Four people saw it in transit and we know which site it went to, the same site most of the stolen gear goes to in Cambridgeshire. Police knew within 10 minutes, and were called by one witness about it's location within the hour. Guess what happened. A patrol car did a recce 24hrs later! As Ted says, if the Police wont do anything, people will start taking the law into their own hands. That might be very soon. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk

  24. This happened Thursday 6th July. It's blown a column of bark from the trunk as it's traveled down the sapwood, plus a small patch off the opposite side of the tree. Having not had much experience with lightning stuck trees, I was looking for advice from the more knowledgable peeps here as to whether the heart wood tends to get fractured or whether it tends to just be surface damage? 25. Start a recipe thread. I love Greek food. My wife and I have seriously thought about moving to Kefalonia but Lotto isn't complying. Sent from my iPad using Arbtalk
