  1. Finished rebuilding one of my 200T today. Just a warning, don't buy the cheaper manifolds of ebay, it ends up costing you more than the £10 you save
  2. Cordwood is a term that I picked up from my father and have always used it referring to trunk/limb wood of arb arisings. I never knew that it was actually a forestry volume term - thanks, i'll stop using it.
  3. I've been using Rye oils semi-synth 2 stroke for a good few months now but i'm starting to get running issues, especially with my Echos. Today found lots of carbon deposits built up near the exhaust port on a relatively new echo multitool power unit. I'm switching back to Stihl Super.
  4. I'm fairly quickly going off Echo, especially for long reach hedge trimmers. Spent hours in the garage stripping and rebuilding the trimmer heads.
  5. I've had this harness since June. I don't get these problems but it does seem to slacken off if your wearing it on the ground for a bit before or after you've climbed. It's annoying as my old weaver never used to do that. It sounds to me that you may have bought a size too big for you.
  6. Dies completely or just bogs down? My Echo blower was doing that so took it back to the dealer. He just put a new fuel filter on and it seem fine. Worth a try.

I use a longer cord and put 5 wraps then 2 twists. This seem to suit me for my size/weight (105kg). I trys 4w & 3t but found that it tended to bind too much.
  8. Finding drink bottles, cans and general rubbish put on the back with the chip. Chipping the perfect push stick that i made for the chipper. As said before, leaving things on site or forgetting tools that are needed.
  9. Forgot to say, it was only one button! Plus it was pre minimum wage, so I wasn't even earning enough it get pissed after a days work. £1.55ph if I remember right.
  10. One of my first jobs was almost identical to this description, producing microfilm - it was pretty sh!t. For arb work, i think that Jomoco takes the prize.
  11. Toadstool producing fungus such as Armillaria I suppose could survive, but personally, i've never seen any bracket forming fungus putting out fruiting bodies on a pile of grindings. It may still be there but i'd imagine a lot less infectious than when producing spores.
  12. Thanks for the feedback. I'll give the 365 a chance but inform my guys to never ever use the decomp.
  13. I'm in a similar-ish situation. A couple of my 70cc saws are down at the moment (372/441) so thinking of a new saw. Considering a 620sx but also Jonesie has the 365 x torq at a good price at the moment, but i'm reading a fair few bad reviews about the husky.
  14. I generally climb on a hitchclimber with a standard cambium saver. I tried added in a pulley but found that it took too much friction out off the system for my liking. I like a bit of friction!
  15. Yes, i was thinking of doing that when I get some spare time. I've already robbed a few things off the old engine - exhaust fume directional cap thingy and the oil drain pipe.
  16. The performance of the engine is still very good. There are, however, a few other niggly problems. The fuel tank cap does not fit well, so it leaks a bit when grinding deep or during a rough transit, the exhaust has fallen off a few times due to the cylinder/manifold studs rattling out and the pull cord has snapped once already. Considering the engine costs less than £170, i can put up with a few small fixes.
  17. Any small commercial vehicle has the same road tax. I have to pay £230 for the year for my 1.6 VW Caddy the same as my 2.4L Transits.
  18. Quercus sp. probably Scarlet.
  19. Few pics that i took last weekend during a woodland stroll in North Norfolk. Last pic is not fungi but is one of the biggest inclusions that i've every seen.
  20. The VAT threshold is based on a rolling 12 month basis so if you turned over more than 33k in the last 10 months of the previous financial year then you are already over the threshold.
  21. I had the same lady call me a while back, I ordered two loops to see what their like before considering a reel. A week or two later they finally turned up. I've just put the first loop on a 200T this morning to dice up a dense conifer hedge - seems good so far but we'll see.
  22. It's character building
  23. Yeah, plus when the kids are older you've got cheap labour. My son was 10+ before he was strong enough to pull-start a chainsaw but up until then they'll have to just use a axe.
  24. Wow, that is bad. I always used to struggle getting the manifold end back through the handle hole until i remembered a rope trick that i use when installing transit quarter glass but i've never put a screwdriver through it.
