  1. vice bolted onto the mud wing of the chipper
  2. if you didn't change the oil and filters when the oil starts to pick up condensation and the additives break down you could get foaming and this may cause cavitation which in turn could cause metal to become dislodged then this could restrict the filters then this would lead to the filter bypassing which would lead to excessive wear and so on but i would very much doubt that a chipper hydraulics would be under much stress
  3. looking at that picture why could the developers not just move the road 30-40 yards either side there looks like theres plenty of room
  4. can you get a hydraulic diagram from jensen so i can tell you how to plumb it in
  5. would the power consumption of the crane make the stress control come on a lot how many hp is the engine i would think you would need 10-15 hp just to make the crane operate at a decent speed also would the stability be affected by the high centre of gravity of the crane it sounds like a good project post plenty of pics if you do it
  6. 550 is a grat saw spend a few quid extra and buy the xpg i wish that i had bought the 560 xpg heated handles make a hell of a difference
  7. my arse gets cold in them and the bit at the back is like a funnel and i always end up with my sweatshirt riding up my back and my drawers full of sawdust
  8. theres loads of different systems cranes are a different matter altogether they have oddball stuff like proportional relief valves and various line relief valves tractors are usually a basic system with not much to go tits up
  9. i wonder how many combines have been set on fire after rats and mice have eaten the wiring it amazes me what rats like to gnaw on oil soaked rubber seems to be a favourite for them
  10. it doesn't matter which relief valve once the spool is in the hold position the relief valve is irrelevant it will only lift the relief valve when either spool is moved and the lowest valve dictates the max pressure
  11. its a toss up between working in the landfill sites where some of the more creative chaps played golf with the rats or having to dig grease out of a slew ring on a mining excavator choices choices
  12. on these open centre valves there is usually only 1 relief valve and once the spool is in the hold position the relief valve doesn't have any influence on the ram if its creeping it in the hold position it can only be internal leakage thru the ram seals or across the landings of the spool
  13. don't bother with a pressure gauge yet swap the hoses onto another service if possible to see if it transfers the fault. if it does then its the ram if you hold it in the fully crowded position then remove the opposite hose see if theres oil coming out or alternatively lower it right down onto a bit of wood to hold the bucket right back and blank the pressure side off lift it up and see if it still crowds over if it does the seals are goosed. check the hyd tank return filter for bits of seal
  14. ditto don't drive it my transit shat its pants on the m6 at gretna services and the marks are still there in the middle lane that was spectacular engine failure took the head off it and you could put your hand down the side of the piston:thumbup:
  15. why go for 40ton would you not be better with something say 15ton tops but 3 times as fast
  16. that tool box step looks like hitachi definitely eastern of origin
  17. is it a volvo just looking at the headlight covers thats a nightmare burnout
  18. its downright rude and something i would never do myself
  19. my mate went to price a job last week got there at specified time knocks on the door to be answered by his daughter who then says can you come back later he's having a nap needless to say we never went back it gets on my ****
  20. the track motor should have a belleville spring to apply the brakes these work backwards from normal brakes its pressure apply to release the brake there are usually tiny multi disc brakes behind the spring that are quite similar in size to motorbike clutches to release the brake there is usually a ball check tee that takes a tapping off the direction hoses to release the brake on most of them the other way of doing it is by holding the motor locked when its not driving and this can cause problems if there is leakage across the motor the easy way to check this is blank off the motor when its chocked on a hill and look at the case drain outlet pull the chocks out and see how much comes out the case drain this separates the leakage across the spool which could be the other problem
  21. is yours a gasifying boiler?
  22. 560 with 8 tooth cog and a 15" bar and if you need a bigger saw change the bar to 18 and change the sprocket
  23. I've had both mines done they used to be so noisy when i was walking up the stairs in the house i used to wake the kids up the first one locked one day and i had to drive back with my knee locked at 90 degrees wife took me to hospital and they tried to straighten it out .it was the worse pain i ever felt the second one was done a couple of years later i found cycling helped me strengthen up again and i was off work 3-4 weeks
  24. very cheap disposable chipper use it for 2-3 years then chop it in and buy another
  25. the breather on the tank should hold probably about 15 psi this is to stop cavitation on the pump
