Parts a bit slow unfortunately, often a week - through Countax I'm told? Some of the design/engineering features on the Bearcat chippers are a bit questionable - this comes from the engineer that looks after my equipment. Far better with Jensen, TW etc IMHO I'm sure others will disagree

Pretty sure that's what I had about 12 years ago - with the 4 teeth on the grinding head, 8.5hp. Awful machine to use

Had a similar slightly smaller Bearcat - same design a few years ago - didn't keep it for long as it was a pita to use! Horizontal grinding is nowhere near as good as a conventional wheel perpendicular to the stump. For that kind of money +vat you could get a Predator 360 - good machine in its' class

The KM56 is fine for domestic strimming - I've been using one for 3 years, 2-3 hours 3 times a month on average, and it's still going strong. Nice and light so easier on the shoulders/back. For anything more heavy duty ie brushcutting, I'd get either a 90/100/130 sort of size.

I had injector lights coming on and reduced performance/poor starting. Had camshaft and crankshaft sensor replaced and was cured - maybe worth a look?

Wouldn't bother with the Powersharp - real waste of time and money. Even our local dealer has been left with old stock and couldn't return it to Oregon after customers gave up on them. It seemed like a good idea but in practice it wasn't. I found the bar constantly binding up, slowing down during the cuts- changed back to original on Echo 350TES and flew through the job twice as quick. Chains went straight in the scrap bin, but the bar was ok with normal chains until it wore out about a year later. -
About 50 miles is my limit, but has to be a full day at top money. Half a day has to be three quarters of a days pay or just not worth it. Luckily 95% of my customers within 10 miles

Quick update which may help others with the same problem in the future. I ran it into Forest Arborcut where I got it from last year. They tried trial by substitution of the solenoid, switch, and circuit board. Turned out to be neither - it was the speed sensor had backed off a fraction and wasn't reading properly. Adjusted to end of its' thread and bent the bracket slightly to get it closer to the flywheel and all is well I'm pleased to say. Simple solution that I wish I'd spotted as it was a 260 mile round trip and sorted in just over an hour.

I'd never let a new customer I didn't know into my yard to "look at logs"as there are too many scallys looking to case places out. All they want to do is look around to see what's worth coming back to steal. I'd offer to drop them a net as a sample for free and if they like it, they can order more. Just my two pen'orth, others may disagree

(Jings, just noticed you said 7 years!! Had you started inhaling? ) Yeah, started at 14, stopped at 21, had occasional cigars, tried to give up several times for up to 9 months. Workmates encouraged me to smoke. Giving up the smokes and starting training gave me my life back - I'd probably not be here now as I was a wreck

Smoked for 7 years then stopped 3 months after starting a sport I loved. Just realised I'd never get as fit as the people I trained with - stopped a 20 a day habit that night and it was the best thing I ever did! Yes it was hard, but I REALLY wanted it and that's the key. I hate the smell with a passion now. Good luck to all giving up - you won't regret it!

Cheers guys - I'll have a check over in the morning. Revs are on full, throttle not slipping. Pulsing when nothing being fed in. Today it took about 3 or 4 minutes before the rollers would turn at all

Hi, wonder if anyone could point me in the right direction please? The feed rollers on my 530 have just started to run erratically. They "pulse" in forward and reverse, not to a regular pattern. Still seems to have the pulling power to get the job done, somewhat slower, but obviously somethings not right

I've used one of their hand axes and it was pretty crap - dull blade and doesn't stay sharp for long. Only use it for roots in places where it's hard to get a proper swing with a full size

Can't remember the name of them now, but there were a type of bracket/fitting available years ago to go onto ladders to which a scaffold board could be fitted to suspend between 2 ladders. Against all HSE regs of course, but still a great quick fix for a job like this. Maybe someone on here will rmember the name and or know if available?

Creosote with 10 - 20% of old engine oil mixed in if you don't mind it a bit darker. Of the propietary products, Ronseal Ducksback is good - 2 coats needed initially though for best protection. Forest Oak is closest to original closeboard colour
