  1. 'Omissions' more like:lol:
  2. Been considering a large back pack blower for sometime now. I loike the look of the Stihl BR700 as it has a telescopic blower tube which i reckon makes it a bit easier to shorten in and stow in the vehicle.
  3. 18 munts ago i bought a 2002 MK6 Transit crew cab tipper for £2.5k, it had 118,000 miles on it. I went down this route as i was on a tight budget and the condition of the bodywork panels and more importantly the chassis rails was very good plus i knew i could make it into a semi decent looking arb wagon as and when i had some spare cash to throw at it. It has an alloy butt built (with high weld mesh sides to which i have attached 5mm board to contain the chip) on a steel subframe so only required a very small amount of welding to get me started. I have spent some more money on it's appearance by having the rusty and concrete/paint splattered weld mesh sand blasted and powder coated silver. The reason i went down the Ford Transit route is new or used parts are plentiful and available same day / next day with the loikes of engines, gearboxes, axles being easy to buy reconditioned and are easy enough to repair at home or by a decent 'back street mechanic'. Plus it has less in the way of electronics when compared to a MK7 Transit. I chose carefully and got lucky. I'm happy to keep spending out on 'improvements' as my mechanic and the MOT man reckon the lack of rust will probably mean another 5 years of use all being well.
  4. yep last year i had an old 0-90 degree model that started chewing the bevel gears so rather than faff around with spare parts i went to MST in Tiverton who had only 1 0-135 degree left in stock and it was fitted to a display machine! They removed it and sold it to me fer about £215 all in i think. No brainer as it's a complete unit with new blades etc. I kept the old worn out 0-90 head for spares. They said there was a huge back order on the newer 0-145 model head and weren't sure how long before they became available, Radmore and Tucker in Exeter said the very same. If yer lucky enuf to source a new 0-90 or a 0-135 i would be inclined to grab it asap.
  5. Quiet please.
  6. ya bought anudder Corsa van Mark?
  7. yep they are nippy too. that 1.3 enjun is a ickle ball of fire.
  8. brand new Tom ? If it's a used model do they suffer from gearbox problems loike alot of 6 speed Astras, Signums, and Vivaros' do ?
  9. Gr8 Stuff Alec, I'll attack it today and apply a Roundup solution to the fresh cuts, cover them over with cling film incase it rains, then wait till i see die back. Hopefully it'll be quick and humane! Once it's 'had it' i'll grind out and advise on nutrients. Thanks very much, K
  10. ahh thanks lads, good info so far. sounds loike i'd better murder it with poison first then grind it out. roundup applied to some fresh cuts and dribbled into pre drilled holes shud do the trick i hope? I take it that once the fig is poisoned and ground out the surrounding earth will be non contaminated and ok to reuse for planting fruit trees/shrubs etc?
  11. got a Fig stump to either grind out or dig out. It was a multistem, some stems are 5 inch in diameter, it's close to a brick wall. Are the roots on these vigorous and spread out far and deep or reasonably shallow rooted as to get the small grinder to the tree is gonna be tricky ? If i grind out the stump and leave some roots is there a good chance they will re-sprout? Thanks, K
  12. had it bout an hour ago, 'ctrl, alt, delete' and 'task manager' got rid of it this time round.
  13. yer 'quackers' Wolter:001_smile:
  14. Well it appears to be loosening up a bit. Maybe it realised how angry it made me feel every time I reluctantly used it! Will update some more as time goes by.
  15. ya it's a broad bodied lump aint it, bit loike an ex of mine:lol: I've put about 6 tanks thru it so maybe it will eventually wake up loike wot the 360TES did.
  16. How do people get on with this saw? I have one and really dislike it. It has a very restrictive exhaust and comes on 3/8ths as standard which is horrible. I have removed the spark screen and converted it to 1/4 pitch and a 0.50 gauge chain by replacing the clutch drive sprocket, chain and bar (10 inch solid nose carving bar) and while this has improved tings slightly it's still pretty horrible to use. Me tinks it's time to cut open the muffler, remove the 'Cat' and gut the rest of the internals, TIG it back together and tune to suit.
  17. Ok the centre cover does come adrift sometimes so I tried to secure it in place by using a large blob of silicone but this failed so I drilled and notched the cover and side casings and cable tied the suckered in situ.
  18. sounds like a PITA but i'd grin and bare it. I wouldn't wait 4 months to see if i was being given the go ahead, did yew (sic) chase them up at all? I usually do a follow up call incase they inadvertently forget.
  19. As above you need to be s**t hot on reductions. Top dollar paid for the right person. Ken 07946606093
  20. hope yer toes didn't go septic as a result!
  21. I mean gauge / pitch etc. .50 .43 ? Sent from my SM-A300FU using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. Keep looking fer one of the last/late ones which were registered on 05 and even 55 plates. Even a complete rolling chassis with a blown 3.0 lump cud be either fixed up or drop a 3.1 in there and as long as the rust hasn't taken hold ya cud have another 6-8 years of cheap motoring.
  23. Thas correctamundo Felix. I'd opt fer one meself but me ole pickup just keeps on goin
  24. No brainer then, Terrano is what 'he' shud be looking fir. I had a sniff about Ebay yesserday and there are some decent ones with sub 100k on the clocks around the 3k mark. Some seem to be 2.7L and some are 3.0L so do yer research as i dunno which is better in terms of 'no tech', ie; no CAT and no DPF or silly coded injectors. The idea of a simple 2 seater with plenty of space in't back fer drums of cherryaide, hydraulic oil, fuel etc would be ideal fer you i guess. Might be worth wax oiling the chassis on any 'new to you' purchase to prolong it's workable life.
