  1. Whats the difference in spec between a 222 and a 252? love my old 252! Ground loads of stumps with it and some huge ones at that! Very capable
  2. Looks a very nice job there looks a lot better than my old shed!
  3. Call it criminal but i’ve had and got lots of oversized arb ash and beech that gets sent off for biomass. Too busy contracting to do logs and it wouldnt pay to get someone to do it! silly situation realy but it is what it is
  4. Boom ? Thank god someone with sence. Good post John also do the sums 400 a day at 220 ? youve gone over vat limit aswell
  5. I was thinking about putting 4 cooper at3 on the ranger for this back end. Had then before and liked them
  6. That is true yes but you can definitely tell when they are ahort or dry as the go clackety... grease is cheap. they dont make the decent heads anymore either
  7. So do you aim your services at start up companies? Its like you assume you would be the most competent on site from that. Back to my earlier statement. People wont want you with all your kit just someone with work ethic, common sence and some experiance. Dont forget most decent firms will have all your kit and more.... thats why i presume you go for start up companies and take all your gear to justify your rate. to a well established firm they wont be botheres about your gear in the slightest. And certainly wouldnt pay you that rate esp when they have their own stuff and most likely other staff
  8. Lol Im the same ?
  9. Im sure most folk will allready know the most efficient way of doing the job from the quoting of it and seeing the job in person.
  10. In fairness most firms will have all the same kit and a lot more. Most would require you to turn up in ppe and a lunchbox and waterproofs thats it. how are you different to other groundies without the kit that warrents the day rate? not being arsey just how i see it
  11. The main body uses lots of grease. I gove a good 8-10 pumps in the main body and one in the side a day. After a days hard use or even part through you can hear them clacking... not much in next time you check
  12. Do you do a lot? Those 13mm can round off.... you put them back with a nip and are solid to get off.... Those stihl tubes are a rip off..... remove bung and shove end of grease gun on and grease.... How often do you grease your trimmers? the main body can use loads. Grease nipples are for convenience and getting on with the job
  13. Was just thinking that myself.... not best place if taking some weight off even quietly away the stem moves a bit or sits up some
  14. Dont compare railway wages to domestic tree work wages
  15. I recently got pissed off and drilled/tapped the 13mm bungs and fit grease nipples
  16. Did it Tuesday 11:30 am... finished rest of day with arm aching like mad. Woke up 3 am wed it was throbbing. Drove myself to hospital snd they gave me a tetnus and some anti inflammatory. Been taking them for a day and a half and still working. Had hardly any movement at first but now near normal. Just seen all that red patch got me thinking. I’ve an appointment to go back to hosp tomorrow am but was hoping it was better so didnt have to go and could work
  17. Something wrong there i say.... my vermeer sc252 has electro clutch and when dissengaged the cutter wheel spins freely....
  18. Nowt in there as far as i know. Wierd as redness has now gone round to the underside of arm also.
  19. Got jabbed earlier in week... swelling going down a bit but redness seems bigger?

  21. Came accross these on a beech I’ve been to look at. Poor thing has has fire damage and big sheets of bark fallen off and a big cavity in the back from previous branch tear out / removal. any help with a positive id? many thanks
  22. If they were being lazy they could have ringed it down into back of a truck on a bed of chip..... council contract or highways? Arb approved? Lol ?
  23. would have used a much grab but been told all i will do is bend the tines... also doesnt close enough to grab smaller timber. Better with 2 forks and a centre beak.... Seen some others but they don't open large enough for me..... I want to be able to pick up 4' diameter pieces down to a pallet fork full of smaller dia logs
  24. Does anyone know where I could get a beak to bolt onto my pallet forks back plate?
  25. clean all the crap off with a small axe then use a smaller bar if you want.... 18-20" and cut from both sides.
