  1. Ah ha, pre managment weekend in the bar with keeley:001_tt2:....And loads of other fellow pre-tech certers.
  2. Wow, what a thread just learnt heaps about square chains and racing chains. I have found myself looking further into chains recently after i started milling timber so i went from ripping chains, then heard about skipping chains so swapped my large bar chain and noticed improvements. Have filled a full chisel chain to 10 degrees by accident (whilst felling and millling) worked a treat really. Now i want to have a go doing a race chain type thingy....
  3. Im really enjoying this thread. Good stuff hamadryad.
  4. I did the course a few years back when it was at Barchams nursery, David and Andy are top teachers.

  10. good shout
  11. I too have had some that haven't had a mass of regrowth probaly due to the tree using its energy at un-pruned points because they need less energy to run. But also i have done some reductions which have grown like wildfire, they were all by the river in norwich so they always had a source of water. Pollards (sorry for swearing:lol:) are another kettle of fish, man they go some. Also after re reducing and pollarding willows it seems rot decay rate is the same for cuts the same size to me....
  12. :001_rolleyes:I guess they say things happen in 3's
  13. That looks like a leaf in the middle of a stem. Codit and viso varc Vertically Vessels Inwards Annual rings Sideways Rays Outward Cambium
  14. Broke a competitors elbow from a arm bar durning a hapkido comp (he refused to tap so kept slowly applying pressure and CRACK), Also had a figure 4 lock on my ankle and screamed like a girl:blushing: whilst tapping the foor as quick as i could. As well being knocked out in 18seconds durning the same comp by a spinning hook kick.

  21. Is it wrong looking through this thread watchin all the videos to feel like a kid in a toy shop at christmas? After buying the mini mill i went and by chance bumped into a freind and bought his 088 off him:001_tongue: so now i plan to run a the mill at 36" with the 088 and the mini mill at 30> with the 395:thumbup: i'll be smilling all the way through the log.
  22. It does have the potential to attack healthy wood as when the current decay pocket is cleared you will most likely see white patches with black flecks in the healthy wood. Normally codit has a good go at stopping it progressing. It mainly in the crown causing small pockets of decay but most times ive see it the trees had problems anyway.
  23. So maybe he should be looking at getting a mulcher in? although if you did get the grinding for 2.50 per inch £30k take most the year off? P.S i would never do arb sites for less than £2.50. Just read the post and did some quick maths. I would also charge more if it was a bit boggy too.
  24. IMO for 3-400 stumps at 30" so 400 stumps thats £12.000? you guys want £30.000? so im saying that for the amount of stumps on site with a large machine you could get alot of stumps cleared per day being grinded. Also he mentioned they were only larch type stuff which chips so quickly too. So i thought about it and thought for volume, time, chip rate per day that £1 per inch min would be a starting point for him.
