  1. We had big spot lights that we could fit to our lorries lit the places up well enough to not worry too much. also it was when i worked for a ex-council company so there was normally an abundance of street lighting.
  2. Using sketchup for a while. templating for maps is quite poor. but you cannot export the full maps to scale. you have to zoom in and take it a little bit at a time too. Hence why im looking at changing but heres what you can do.
  3. Thinking of buying turboCAD 15 to draw survey maps? Anyone used it or any turboCADs?
  4. Think of how many ropes, boots, and trousers that is over that period:thumbdown:
  5. Yeah the client specified the depth with the tree officer as they are the proposed footing depth. Heck i can't complain im getting paid to dig that deep by the hour. Hope to find gold just like you:biggerGrin:
  6. Cheers Tony. Good note on the ranging pole and paint. Stevens requested it so hope he won't pick it apart too much.
  7. Ok I've been asked by the LA to give a root inspection of a site i surveyed a few months back. The building that is proposed to be built is about 2m outside the Rpa of a ash tree and there is a driveway (mud and stone drive) between the house and tree. Im not expecting to find any large roots but i've been asked to do it. So im going to hand dig the trench 1m away from the proposed footings to see what i find. So what im asking is well as this is my first root inspecton what should i write about? I will be adding loads of photos and the trench depth will be about 1-1.5m deep as this should find any small roots that are about. Help and a little guidence from those who have done these would be gratefully appreciated.
  8. I've soaked mine in chainsaw oil overnight to free them up. Once free run them round on the saw for a bit.
  9. Cheers Rob, Looks like im heading to the local tool station tomorrow.
  10. Hi Rob, Did you use dowls to fill the screw holes? if so do you make your own and how do you do it?
  11. Just got an order to make two twelve ft benches for a local school from this cedar. So very, chuffed!
  12. scroll the net for images for inspiration imo, also mill some conny and have a trial and error before you even think about using the oak. I popped over to see a couple of carpenters who taught me some simple joints as i try to avoid using nails and screws at the moment.
  13. theres always google accounts which is free all you need to do is add your buisness info and verify it via a phone call. then presto your findable on google maps. mine also has a link to my website.
  14. I can't see why not? higher swl than the red petzl tandem too. You could also balance the load better if you used two i guess?
  15. My plan is to set my cast block high in the tree then one isc pulley 45 degreesish down from that, then the second isc pulley just above the branch i want to reduce.
  16. Yeah its only going to be used for branch reductions over houses really prob not even going to get close to 200kgs at max velocity of weight. Bought them because my main cast blocks are heavy and these are light and easy to move about in the tree. yeah its 67.2kn between the two blocks not per block (maths were not my strongest subject:lol:).
  17. Also im using 2 blocks to reduce pressure on each block so instead of a single at 45kn the weight pressure from the rope is spread so if my maths are right using half the block (90 degrees insteasd of 180 degrees) would increase this to around 67.2kn per block? I think? If someone could tell me if im right or wrong please
  18. Ah yes! SWL is divide by 10. No wonder alarm bells were going off i my head but couldn't think what it was. Plenty good enough for what rigging i had planned for them.
  19. Brilliant just downloaded it and ready to read.
  20. So i bought today 2 medium isc pulley blocks for small tree rigging http://www.iscwales.com/pdf/pulleys/aluminium/RP017%20Medium%20prussik.pdf http://www.honeybros.com/gbu0-prodshow/HB91LA.html. So im asking if what i was told is correct that the minimum breaking strength is 45kn which is 4500kgs? Right?? Help:confused1:
  21. I'll probaly message your page in a few months to see how shes going.
