  1. Only if the soil has a persistent moisture deficit? (which we don't know yet) Heave and subsidance can happen on clay soils. Anyway if we are running on the theory that felling would result in heave plant some trees this year fell the tree in 2 years and maybe they will equalize the clay soil. AIE - Trees and Buildings
  2. If their is currently no heave fell it posion the stump. Tell him your not willing to put that i writing but you will give him a quote. Balls in his court then. Then if the ground shrinks after you fell it its subsidence not heave so his worries of heave are gone.
  3. Root inspection?
  4. Heres a link about Alder it makes great seats and benches:thumbup:! Brilliant colour although when milling wet will turn your hands a brownish colour.
  5. Turn it up loud and a few seconds after the crash you here cut, cut. (approx 15 sec) Also wreaking balls were replaced by hydralic jaws in the work place because of h&s. (uncontrolled swing?)
  6. Alaskan mills great and very, very good value for money! Check out the sub forum on here and see what can be done. The next closest one to the alaskan is by logsol uk and is considerably more expensive.
  7. Spot on:thumbup: Its BT Openreach which are a seperate division to the main BT but still are BT Openreach providers of fair and equal access to the network for CPs
  8. :001_tt2:Buying time? NO:lol: Im sure the AC scheme will develop and diversify to meet all size company/climber needs and more and more of the cowboys will have to hang up their spurs.
  9. Yeah, i took out the neigbours line so nout to pay. Their quite happy to tell you what you can and can't get away with over the phone. Quality customer care:thumbup:
  10. Now you two are going back and forth so much im lost! BUT Theres only one way to find out? FIGHT.
  11. Nope, just wiped one out last week. If you call the faults line they will send you one out or at least tell you what i have. Thought as i'd took it out id find out what i could get away with in the future.
  12. STEIN RC-3001 SINGLE BOLLARD LOWERING DEVICE from Stanton Hope Rigging plate http://www.honeybros.com/gbu0-prodshow/HB91MA.html its in the photos earlier in the link
  13. Ok BT lines now i know a fair bit on these bad boys. Right if you cut the branch that takes down the line that £127.99 for the line to be repaired plus a £40.00 call out fee. If the home owners tree takes down the line they have to pay the above fee. If its next doors tree that takes your line down BT fix it for free. If its outside your boundary where the line is 'cut' BT fix it for free. Wear and tear from rubbing branches BT fix for free. Hope this helps.
  14. Sounds good to me:thumbup:
  15. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EElqrgk4N0]YouTube - man flu[/ame] Ha made me chuckle
  16. Rob are they using a mini mill in the second set? hmm makes me want one now.
  17. I undersatnd it as a 2-1 pulley system too. 2 pulleys so line going to the hitch doesn't count. Line 1 heads from the isc block to the pulley and the return rope is only used for tension. So 2-1?
  18. Could do, but i think a scheme like this that could then lead to freelances establishing a bigger company that would then strive to be a AAAC? If not they may just go down the ISA route and not even bother considering the AAAC??
  19. But not even close to how heavy the blue husqvana trousers are:thumbup1:
  20. Talking about a group of us. I think it was said earlier but its a good idea IMO that their could be an Approved Arborist scheme for freelance climbers? If someone who had said thing sent me a CV asking for a odd days work i would have no hesitation on taking them on as they in my eyes have been regulated by a body that i respect to be of a high standard.
  21. I knew santa had a real job! Do you know what camera was being used? I've recently been thinking about timelaspe filming myslef. Great Video.
  22. Stretch Airs of mine are nearly 2yrs old with a few minor patches from stubs catching them. Buy far best one ive purchased!
  23. No good response:thumbup: The self regulating thing is a great idea but how can it be enforced? I understand that their are cowboys in every trade more so in some than others. I have a company working around my way which happily top trees leave stubs and charge a fortune. The clients always seem to be happy too (being the tree warden i try to inform them whats been done is bad). How could we regulate these type of guys? IMO there are some members of the public who check to see if you do a good job (refrences, website) or are a member of any associ's. But a vast majority see a tree as a thing that takes their light. Also these ones see a hedge and a tree as the same kind of thing 'oh i can top my hedge to get more light why not the tree??' It would be nice to rasie public awareness. Even at the village fate later this year im having a stall for my company and im putting a board of photos of good tree work and bad cowboys work.
  24. My question would be the trees are TPO'd and a fixed driveway would require planning permission. Who let them put a drive within a RPA without doing a root inspection? Also am i right in thinking full granted planning permission would over rule the TPO anyway??
  25. All parts of the tree are poisonous: roots, bark, wood, leaves, flower-buds, petals, and seedpods. The harmful part of the plant is the seedpods. It contains cytisine, a quinolizidine alkaloid with effects very similar to nicotine. But you'll only get i'll if you eat any part of it so keep the sheep and horses clear.
