  1. She is very heavy, but because of the seat part most the weight seems to be kept down low.
  2. Yeah had lent the sledgehammer out for fencing.
  3. Rob,

just wondering if you are going to post any vids of the peterson/skillmill?

Would like to see a video other than their promo one.

    Cheers, Ian

  4. Whats the cc of the ama?
  5. Stick it in the repair shop, sounds like you've covered all the bases i would of too.
  6. tried right click watch on youtube?
  7. Myself and Mr Sorenson once got a bit of eucy caught on a dual line going to a house, made a few loud bangs!!! In East Anglia EDF will take lines dow or turn them off for free!!! even the poles with 3 wires (turn off). number is 0845 601 4516. Saved me the time of rigging and platforms in the past. They said its cheaper for them to take the line down than pay for a crew to do a call out or pay the subbys who clear the lines to do it. Hope something like this goes on elsewhere.
  8. I did some free time with a group of princes trust youths (16-18) at north walsham in norfolk. I took them into a local comunity woodland felled some trees and got them to drag material out the way, some of the bigger trees i milled and we created some benches and path rails. They all were keen to learn and were very keen to build something from nothing (they were facinated how a stem of wood becomes a plank then afew cuts and its a bench). They all made a bench each towards the end of the week and i loaded them up on the trailer and we dropped them off at their houses. About six months later i popped in to see the guy that ran their course and 4 are now at the norwich city college doing carpentry another doing building and there is a girl whos planning on going to easton college next year to do arb. So some ain't lazy. IMO its the one that have been given everything they wanted are the one to avoid. Rather MSN mates or facebook each other instead of lift a log.
  9. You must be serious fank as you second picture the gloves are clearly off.
  10. Hama, I did the tech cert a few years ago. Myself never been a great studyier. Went on a 1 day microsoft works course through my local job centre no less. Helped me no end! If i hadn't i would of struggled even more, I personally found it almost overwhelming for most the course but found if i made the effort to take 'spark notes' of the unit revising and refering to part were so easy for the exams. In the end i passed my exams and managment day 1st time round with a end result of a credit! I did spend over £500 on books from my book list and well never read half of them, although i did need 'planting on landfill sites recently'. I know how you feel about losing out too. Many a time i went for tree officer jobs and guys/girls with the degree your doing got it over me. Although they were so academic they didn't last long as they had know idea of the job itself. I personally think you've made the right choice on your course and with your experiance (i have seen how knowledgable you are on here). Will surely secure a great position in the future. Don't worry about cad just do some measurements on site and its so easy after a few plays. (if you master sketup everything else is easy). Even after i qualified i did sometime as a consulatnt at my last company. This gave me the kahunas to setup myself and i've never needed to look back. Not every Arborist can do surveys so if you willing travel there is that work, which ties me over nicley. Anyway a ramble i know hope this helps in someway. Hope you find the drive and motivation to get you on your way. Bitesize bits always make thing easier. All the best, Ian
  11. Ah the good old martin does horses t-shirts.
  12. Thanks:blushing:
  13. Epic fail!
  14. Bloomin heck rupe i hope you locked your kit up. That area looks well dodgy!. Nice work as always:thumbup1: I guess thats the kind of location that sticks out from the rest. P.S i didn't know the red arrows were flying about near you?
  15. Know, or have we been told? I think some more recent investigation into this type of work would be good. Its above my post but someone will know more than me. I mean look at how pruning has turned around. Target prunning was the only way we were told to prune trees then someone did some reserch and francture pruning has a better epicormic growth response.
  16. Looks good Rob. Top job.
  17. When felling this dead cherry a few weeks ago i looked at the branch structure and was determined to create a single seat bench. I took some friends from Austrlia to see Norwich's cathedral on monday and BAM! got the inspiration i was looking for. Hope you guys like it although there was a little bit of bark that splintered out when chiseling through so i think a routers on the cards.
  18. Loving the big table, bet she was heavy tho.
  19. Ah i will invest in a remote for my cannon 30d and con someone into pressing the trigger all day long.
  20. Nope only insurance, no mot is a £60 fine. My missus got pulled by a anpr van and fined £60. Insurance was still valid so it was a on the spot fine. Turns out she had been driving around for nearly 3 months without one.
  21. 50p!!!! Thats it no new files till christmas at those prices:001_tt2:
  22. Don't forget guys to set out signs on the highway you must have completed the 'singing, lighting and guarding' course. If you haven't and some plank drives into you, your kit thats the first thing they ask for (insurance). I know this as we had and old boy drive into the front of a lorry where i last worked at. IMO tho hi-viz, cones and tree cutting signs normally are sufficient oh and common sense. The course didn't cost too much it was about £160 at the highways training centre near me.
  23. Sounds like an experiment for someone to me.
  24. No worries, made me go , (and go get my copy of nhbc 4.2) I agree there is a higher chance of heave than subsidance but i thought as no-one mentioned it i would.
