  3. I'll bring mine too and post them on here. If i can't be arsed to compete then maybe tony will let me hang around the tree top getting some shots????
  4. I call it character building. Spot on Hama we all get stick from time to time. Its not ment to bash people down. Just help them along. I think from reading the comments he will get better by taking onboard peoples comments.
  5. Trevor worked in Germany for a few years.
  6. Trevor Reynolds, A 30+ year experienced Arborist, Is 50 years old. Good old Tervor. Worked with him for a bit before he moved to teaching at easton college. IMO fair play for stepping up and getting stuck in on a fell. When i was training some people just stood back and watched. You are still learing so your not going to be perfect and im sure some of us on here have made some cuts like that at one time or the other including moi. Have you tried asking tree firms near you if you could tag along for free of course and learn by watching in return for you doing some chipping?
  7. Anyone bringing a decent camera to take any pics?? I'll happily snap away with a energy beer in my hand.
  8. HMMMM wolf you say....... Yeah i was going to come up on sat to see the show anyway so paying to get in aint a worry. Yeah i'll leave my kit for the inspection and go for a walk around come back and lose to dazler (he really wants to beat me too). Do i only need my cordage, strop, harness, hat, glassess?
  9. I get back late friday night so probaly won't be up for climbing from such a long flight 55mins . Im probaly going to re-enter the isa comps this year too. Zipline? now ive got gladiators stuck in my head, do we have to wear red jumpsuits? Does it matter that i haven't sent a form to chalky? can i just bring my kit if i fancy it instead?
  10. Noted and changed.:001_tt2:
  11. Not 16mm?
  12. May take a trip up their to watch if im back from Holland in time.
  13. Nice setup Skyhuck! me jelious.
  14. I'll see what i can do. Got a couple of pics of me playing around with it a couple of weeks ago (only small stuff) using the isc pulleys, rigging plate, some small strops and lowering off a fig 8. When i get the whole kit out next i'll photograph it all (big blocks, slings, etc) and stick it on here.
  15. Ok so if you could have an ideal lowering kit what would it be? Mine is what i've now finished compiling with a lot of idea borrowing off here:001_tt2: Stein RC3001 lowering bollard 50m of 16mm liros lowering line 2 medium cast blocks 2 medium isc blocks Petzl medium rigging plate (idea i got from rupe) 6 steel krabs 4 2ton slings So share what your is? Or you can just list your dream kit. Just interested to know what others use/would like to use.
  16. I got what i thought was a liros one from a freind recently and it has a white out sheath with a red fishing line type centre. Sadly used i twice got the throw bag caught up on some natural fratcure prunning cuts and couldn't even break the line. so she sits in the naughty corner till i need her.
  17. In my opinion its not well know enough outside the tree world. Also it doesn't hold the same kind of 'clout' that something like gas safe does as you need to be registered on it by law Gas Safe Register | Ensure your gas engineer is registered with Gas Safe Register to be able to fit and test gas in any household or building site. Its also a supported by the government. I've quoted on a couple of jobs and have been asked if i was AAAC because the council said any contractor should be. I told them its not a legal requirment to be a AAAC and got the job. Also it seems to be the big companies that go for it because they can afford too i guess. I think it is a good thing for the industry as a whole but feel if it doesn't have any government support its just like being a member of any club. (Sorry if it sounds harsh).
  18. I will tie off with a running bowline incase my spikes decided they don't want to stay put. But if i decide to do a decent its so easy just to put a fig 8 into the system why do anything else or more complicated imo.
  19. Is liros the one with a fishing line type cord?
  20. Zing IT by far for me. I couldn't tell you the compound but i think the colour should be a red, yellow, orange, purple, pink, those kind of bright non tree like colours make it easier to trace the line through the canopy. Also some throwlines out there are way too weak and will snap at the first sign of any resistance. What about the name Flyline?
  21. Yeah was looking at the on nods site. They are the ones im leaning towards in fact. Were they easy to break in?
  22. Currenty i wear the Aquafell boots. The stitching has started to go so it will soon be time for a new boot. I was wondering what seems to be a good boot for tree work.
  23. Well i just quoted on a job this evening a not to hard re-reducing a lapsed thorn hedge to about 15ft high from 20ft high. Whilst being show the job i commented that a section had been started. He replied that the local gardener/tree surgeon had, 'had a go'. I noded and asked why he had not finished it? They client replied because he's in hospital he fell off his ladder and has broken his ankle and back. Just shows how easy it is to damage yourself even from a somewhat lower altitude to what we normally hang around at. And why you shouldn't 'have a go'.
