  1. For how close they are in cc i thought maybe you'd had a play with the 395 and the 390 is a saw i've been looking at buying too.
  2. Yeah going to make some of it into some simple benches and seats. Nothing fancy. Still think that cedar has the best looking grain of any tree (imo).
  3. Correction:001_rolleyes:, after asking this question i compaired saw profiles on the husqvana website 395 - 93.6 displacment 390 - 87.9 displacment. Maybe a newer model but not the same. Although the 390 does have an adjustable oil pump:001_tt2:
  4. Mozza, How does it compare to the 395 in performance if you know? I currenty have a 395 and within the next year will probaly trade it in for a new saw and was wondering if the 390 would be a good choice?
  5. Ok well i took these 2 photos in august whilst removing a hanging branch from a birch tree.
  6. On monday i felled a cedar which had been topped out for some reason. Instead of just turning it into firewood i decided to mill it into 3" thick boards by 12ft long. Heck they were heavy.
  7. I use a isc micro pulley and a knut hitch, 8m of rope tucked nicely in my sherril ditty bag. Wire flip line just rope a grab.
  8. Is that another word for young lads?
  9. Big Mewps are only good imo if you've got the space to set them up in. I worked for a company in norwich and we hired a quinto platform which did 130ft it was on a 18tonne 4x4 truck. IMO it made the job harder as there was less space to drop timber. Spikes rigging and a extra day would of done the job much easier but i guess the council wanted it done from a platform, with a road closure and all the residents annoyed. I may have some old photos of kicking about somewhere at the office i'll have a look and see on monday.
  10. Been using the oregon ripping chain for a bit now on my 390xp with a 30" bar. Goes well together milling and felling!
  11. Public areas are for public use so you should be ok, but just remember to not disturb wildlife or you could be in trouble. I've sometimes put some ticker tape around the base are and no-one has ever asked what i was doing, guess they think its some inspection type thingy.
  12. Great photo's i like the crane operator trying to be like you but with his camera phone.
  13. Whilst watching thats exactly what i was thinking.... that rope would of been at better use for pulling if it was much higher. If i had gone wrong maybe we could of seen our first astro-arborist.
  14. Sounds like a good rope bag to me. But their all the same really.
  15. Im guessing its the same as the original as it doesn't have quick leg release, but they loosen off very quickly anyway.
  16. I have the new version like this? Kolibri Multislide Harness - £230.00 - Harnesses - Arborist Equipment & Forestry Kit - Stafford West Midlands.
  17. Wow, what a harness! Been using mine for a few days now and its blown the others that i've used over the years (willins t22, skybelt, wever, cresto sliding d, butterfly, austria duo and dragonfly) out of the water! The comfort is unreal, The leg straps can be done up nice and tight but also allow good free movement and so far hasn't nipped the jewels:001_tt2:. I also really like that you can adjust the sliding d bridges length to fit the user. 7 tool attachment point may be a tad tooooo many tho. I know its in the higher range of prices but imo its worth every penny.
  18. Scarpa's all the way for me mine are nearly 6 years old and still do the job.
  19. I keep seeing good tree work pics on here and the odd bad drive by pic from time to time. This made me think maybe they should all be put on a thread so if Joe Public looks on here they may have a little help at what bad tree work is. Also give us lot something to laugh and cringe at.
  20. £1 not bad rate. The fassi hiab is well cool! especially as its remote controlled too.
  21. 24" on a 395 i got a 22" to go on mine but haven't needed to use it yet. Bet she goes like stink!
  22. The tech cert is a hard course but, i've got mates who have done the degree and the tech cert which have said the tech was much harder. Cost wise well i don't know why its more expensive? i was lucky enough to get a company pay for it. One way to look at it 5-10 years time frame start at the rfs then tech cert then degree, im sure you'd get a junior consultants job with those creds.
