    P.S did you buy the 088?

  2. Is it wrong looking through this thread watchin all the videos to feel like a kid in a toy shop at christmas? After buying the mini mill i went and by chance bumped into a freind and bought his 088 off him:001_tongue: so now i plan to run a the mill at 36" with the 088 and the mini mill at 30> with the 395:thumbup: i'll be smilling all the way through the log.
  3. It does have the potential to attack healthy wood as when the current decay pocket is cleared you will most likely see white patches with black flecks in the healthy wood. Normally codit has a good go at stopping it progressing. It mainly in the crown causing small pockets of decay but most times ive see it the trees had problems anyway.
  4. So maybe he should be looking at getting a mulcher in? although if you did get the grinding for 2.50 per inch £30k take most the year off? P.S i would never do arb sites for less than £2.50. Just read the post and did some quick maths. I would also charge more if it was a bit boggy too.
  5. IMO for 3-400 stumps at 30" so 400 stumps thats £12.000? you guys want £30.000? so im saying that for the amount of stumps on site with a large machine you could get alot of stumps cleared per day being grinded. Also he mentioned they were only larch type stuff which chips so quickly too. So i thought about it and thought for volume, time, chip rate per day that £1 per inch min would be a starting point for him.
  6. How about like this? look at the guns and hes got a 088?
  7. I walked into my first arb interview with muddy hands and dirty trousers, got me the job.
  8. :congrats::congrats: Spot on Dean.
  9. Closed my eyes and imagined flying in a chopper and blowing up the mess. Job done 5mins all wood reduced and other trees explosivley fracture pruned:lol:. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx7XNb3Q9Ek[/ame]
  10. I always found walking into your local Tesco's and seeing how grumpy the checkout staff are and think hey ho could be worse. Costs less than a shrink and you can do the weekly shop too. Also since buying my alaskan mill doing something with the wood that i fell has given me a, well stess relief. Spend a sunday afternoon up the yard plodding around drawing sketches then milling to size, cutting the joints, rasping the timber and a few hours later sit on your creation. I've never felt happier in my life. For years i worked at AAAC's and just felt stressed and down. When i setup myself some of the stress went. I keep my overheads down all kit bought and paid for no HP or loans (no stress of repayments). I rent chippers, grinders, subby's.

  16. Have you got a CD labelled 'call out tune' which happens to be the a-team theme tune? :lol:
  17. Monolith if its too far to carry:lol:. Depends if you want to keep the fire wood. Or if you cut i lower enough you could turn it into a fungi bank. Haven't got a photo but if you got to earlham park (walk from car park to earlham hall) in norwich you will see one i did for citycare last year. Shes taken off fantasticly.
  18. Yeah you'll be suprised how many stumps you can do in a day if there all near each other. They have a hard life so probaly buy new if funds are good. Rayco make very good grinders IMO. Look for one that does a good slew width too maybe a bit more but wont cost you time repositioning the grinder, time is money.
  19. Pracitce throwing from hand with a double loop you can easily hit 70ft. Anything esle bring out the big shot. Save your coppers for that instead of the 'lil shot'
  20. Rule of a third. When reducing branches back you should not reduce to a branch which is less than a third of the diameter of the branch you have just cut....... Hope this helps:thumbup:
  21. £1 an inch normally for stumps across the widest part. Their a handy bit of kit good for starting fencing holes in clay ive been told.....
