  2. Good luck wherever your off to mate.
  3. Me to that was a great video the thread itself turned pretty funny to.
  4. Apparently only last year it became illegal to have a slave! Some more funny laws http://vandragt.com/2008/01/top-10-crazy-laws-still-in-existence-uk/
  5. You need to remember that climbing isn't just swinging round a tree. You an rec climb as much as you want but without getting a saw in your hand your only going to be half way there. Theres much more to think about when a saws involved doing as much as possible without braking stuff. Bide your time take any hawthorn or crap climb you get offered and I'm sure your boss will let you climb more
  6. Sunday morning job get a couple of guys stopping traffic jobs a goodun no need for to much drama. What village is it?
  7. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/9469-post.html Spent all morning trying to find it what a great video it is doubt I'll ever get board of it.
  8. I'm about 6 miles up the road so could pick it up at the weekend but not sure when I could sort courier out...
  9. Spikes are the best bit of kit around but having an uncomfortable pair is useless you could be spending a few hours on a pole a day I can't be dealing with a few hours of pain. Buy good buy once they will last you years and years!
  10. As said peeling is better as they will last longer. If its summer cut the bark will naturally fall off in time but the stakes won't last as long and will be prone to splitting while hit staples in etc. As also said there's little money in stakes unless your doing bulk loads to places where there's little chestnut ie up north. Down here everyone seems to be doing stakes thinking its great monney but really it's driving the price down to a point where it's not worth it. Pointing and peeling a stake is worth more but obviously is more monney.
  11. Just to say I've worked with damo and the guys out in Vienna and it was great. Some really good work and some challenging trees. Damo is a good boss and a good guy to work with as the other guys. Vienna is a great city so much to see and plenty of beer and good times to be had. If my situation was a bit different id ringing you up! Hope your keep well mate!
  12. I can't imagine job satisfication comes into it much when you have bills to pay and food to buy.
  13. If the tractor has a pull stop get some string tie around pull stop feed out back window dangle above wear your head is and pull if necessary. This was how the one I used was sold from new that was a while ago mind.
  14. I've done very little private jobs because I don't have the kit to do it properly and find it easier to work for people with the right kit and keep it simple to that but there was the first one I did small conifer to top and trim there was so little of it I thought I could stuff it in a dumpy bag in my car and drop off at a mates burn site. Needless to say I didn't look at it properly and there was more than thought so after doing a few trips I shamefully called a mate to help me take it away with a truck. I didn't underprice I put the same price on it then with no overheads than I think most people around would charge. Just thought I'd be earning lots more than originally thought. That's why I'll leave it to everyone else to price I'm happy to turn up and give a boss a good day
  15. Ha yeah until they want to dig it up! It's a service that earns someone monney and they're paid to do it some time is less of an issue unless you charge the same for digging a moat and flushing a stump off than someone who runs a stump grinder.
  16. Not a good saw bulky, under powered, awful chainbrake, seems to lose any sort of power as soon as you start a cut, crap to start. Seriously wait for the new one to come out or get a 201 there really good compared with this or get a 200 and do it up.
  17. For an apprentice only! What hick says the minimum wage is right for a normal on the cards job it's whatever the mw is but for apprentices it's 2.50
  18. Oops sorry mate didn't see this til now think that is the forum I was on about. Good luck
  19. Aslong as your not towing a trailer more than 750 your fine the plod aren't fussed what the trailer can carry just what weight you have on at the time. I dont get why you would want all this fussing just get the test.
  20. I looked into it not long ago as another string and all that but seems to be difficult to get into without a trade like you said. There's a good forum for it though with plenty of info like this.
  21. Good job mate! Think I was on a course with your brother a year or 2 back at plumpton. Is he still with you? Getting on ok?
  22. Don't cut near your leg and you'll be fine. Don't see how anyone would cut like that in the heat type cs hurt!
  23. That's it yeah makes it a huge pain. Glad to hear its good for. Thought you really rated the 201 though? Have you had problems?
  24. Having used the old husky at work recently what's the chain brake like to use? The old one is a pita to say the least!
