  1. Today's quote. Ash tree surrounded by 4 storey buildings. Cs100 will be taken through and chipped by the tree. Logs carried out in barrows and taken home. Widest probably 18". Not a big tree but one limb looks like its hazard beamed and is leaning against a couple of windows and a building. No on site pics but you can see it in the centre of the satellite image.
  2. On an average amount of chipping 3-5ltrs per day if you are turning off and revving down for dragging instead of leaving it revving its knackers all day.
  3. That looks a bit slower than the cs10 to me? I suppose it could be material dependent too.
  4. Loose/bad connection? I've just pulled the gearbox out of my disco as well as the clutch and flywheel. Will change the rear oil seal tomorrow and get it all back together. Got a silicone hose kit to put on too and plan to take the bumpers off and spray them Matt black.
  5. When this lot don't make any more noise!
  6. Put a Prussik at one end and secure that end to something solid with lots of room behind it, keep pressure on the Prussik and run it down to the end of the rope, it will stretch the sheath and will leave you with a core less piece of rope at the end. Cut it off and melt the end so it stays together. Job done!
  7. Catalpa?
  8. An advert in the power farming magazine from 1960!
  9. I think it's a case where it could be retained but if the council are twitchy about retention and so is the client then you might have an uphill battle retaining it. In my view, seeing the fibre buckling at the base and the Kretz seems pretty advanced I'd be very twitchy about retention because I'd be taking the call that it might be ok. But all it has to do is drop a limb and all hell could break loose. Seeing dieback in the crown and Kretz rings alarm bells for me, as that tells me vascular function is being restricted more so than normal.
  10. iPads are even easier!
  11. Office 2010 is the package of program's. excel is probably best suited. You can scan and add it in but it will come up as an image which you cannot type into. You are best using excel and scan just the letterhead into the page and create a table which calculates totals.
  12. Office 2010 should see you right, will have excel word and PowerPoint on
  13. I've just realised how evil tree houses really are, it's like killing someone and nailing them to his mate
  14. That's one of the main symptoms of gay-tyre-itis! Mines having some love this week. New bias plate, gearbox off and refresh clutch and fix leaky rear engine seal and paint bumpers to stop them looking so grey. Then maybe fix the curled up dash!
  15. Cool! I'm free most Sundays if that's the better day. Although Saturday traffic could be more favourable for me. There's the weekend with the 10/11th or 17/18th which are ideal for me. Depends on other arrangements of you guys!
  16. Really can't beat a good pollard, need to get myself in and around some big old trees over the winter! Windsor park anyone?
  17. I've condemned loads, they've all got no leaves on so must be dead!
  18. so far so good with the zermatts. breaking in nicely, really comfy for walking round in, more so than the airstreams, they are a bit wider but feel chunkier and the grip is better, still getting plenty grip in all the places i would expect it and more, on a slippery banking today and i didnt expect them to be as good as they were, so far seem worth the money!
  19. A couple on oak from a woodland I was in today. I'm a bit out of practise. Merip and Grifola?
  20. If your after stihl, speak to Lee at T&H power in burscough.
  21. Hire a climber in. If it goes Pete tong it wont be easy!
  22. There's always water in the ground. But whether the tree causes damage is down to soil type and its plasticity. If its a sandy free draining soil I shouldn't see an issue.
  23. I think I may just pay you guys a visit in the near future. If only you'd managed this a bit earlier. I'd have had a pair of the zermatts from you!
  24. I enjoyed the Banff and lake louise area very scenic.
  25. We've already got our tree. And 30k others! Want to make sure that we get a good one in the bunch.
