  1. My dealer told me The green hp ultra oil is recommended for the 4 mix engines. Using the cheaper oil causes problems. I've seen con rods blow out the side of engines on the 4 mix blowers.
  2. ive been on site at 8am on jobs before now, however that was a very busy main road near a busy set of lights and sunday was the quietest day to do it! we held noise off as long as possible, probably cutting around 9. been asked to keep the noise down at 10.30 on a weekday before now though!
  3. Stihl 660 or husky 390/395
  4. I went from doing business at btec level into fdsc Arb and last may finished the Bsc top up. Best decision I made. It was tough but as rob said put the effort in and you will do well.
  5. Ok you win your lime was bigger!
  6. Lime repollard. Our cones have gone missing so had to use signs and barrier tape to cordon off footpath. Some bits over driveway decided to ride the wind and jump 15' towards the road. A lot came off this tree. Didn't expect so much!
  7. Yeah, because your mains is only 240v
  8. It's different to say the least. Here's this afternoons job. Clear the buddleia and self seeded stuff from out of these pipes. There's two of the big silver ones. Carrying steam at a mere 387 degrees C. They are just warm to the touch!
  9. More of this pipeline clearance. Wires everywhere
  10. The Arb Association already does something like this
  11. Happy in rain. Snow is a no go. Just not worth the hassle!
  12. It's alright, it's got sky hooks on the top
  13. I've seen a big conifer felling job near me. They felled the lot, dragged them into a pile with a big 360 then brought stobarts in with their big chipper and chipped the lot into their wagons. There was probably 50 of those.
  14. Video from that fell
  15. Half what you paid for them
  16. There was about 10ft of room between the tree top and site boundary once it was down. It's a plant hire yard and they have numerous tracked dumpers and diggers and a cat d6 for shifting it round. I just had to put it on the floor and cut it so a digger could drag it round! Got a video too ill be sticking on YouTube
  17. Yesterday afternoons job. Put this big willow on the deck. Probably 3' ish at felling cut. Done with a very sharp 20" bar. Came over a treat.
  18. should say 'drop it like its pop'
  19. Bargain basement of where? Selfridges?
  20. Position sorted! Cheers for the messages everyone. Didn't expect so many!
  21. Hi guys I could do with another guy on a job. There's a bit if climbing involved in a few trees. So I want to bring in another climber. Doesn't have to be the most experienced climber ever. I'd be happy for someone who knows what to do but needs the practice. Although if I can't get someone like that I will still accept a 'regular' freelance climber. The job is booked for next weds 30th. Paid on the day.
  22. snow chains should work better, much harder wearing, but max speed of 30mph
  23. It was a photo finish!
  24. I'd be interested in going to see some of those oaks we visited last year tony, to see how they are getting on and to get some more pics and to get back on track with this side of things.
  25. How does it mock education and learning? surely education and learning is thinking about what we dont know and challenging it and finding a reasonable explanation for what is happening. To answer the questions we have. If something doesnt fit into the old information, it doesnt mean its wrong. This was part of my dissertation and that seemed to work ok! Missing your threads on here tone, my fung knowledge is getting rusty! i see where you are coming from with that, and simple language can make our lives easier, but in this situation the second one there active healthy cambium and most highly fluid active cambium channels are two different things. The remodelling of the architecture is a dolled up way of saying prune it to reshape the canopy and encourage a stronger growth form but it still works. surely us professionals should spot that?
