  1. i know we all make mistakes but that was a fairly major one . i agree n one is perfect but you would least expect it from a senior member of staff that has been in the job a long time . but this is getting away from the thread so i will shut up lol!!!!
  2. what they preatch and what is expected on site are two totally different things , in training its safety first , on site on a fault its customer lost minutes and getting them back on suply !!
  3. the question i asked my self is how can someone get away with it ???
  4. i have had the tank off and the vent looks clear , i have just had a look at another 357xp that is roughly a year and a half younger , the tank braether on the new saw is totally different , but not sure it its because something is missing from the broken saw or weather they have changed the design . anyone got any ideas ?????
  5. do you know what the reason for previous pruning was ???
  6. how about just a back cut next time lol !!!! jokes
  7. sorry SWB it was not intended as a side to the argument , was just sharing some info with you all , but your right if the kit aint yours it does not matter , he caused over 20k of dammage and has not even been given a writen warning . he was site foreman and was meant to over see the saftey of all on site . it just proves that some LA'S are not as squeeky clean as they try to make out !!
  8. i was working on a call out in january clearing a power line for western power , it was raining and blowing a gale , then along came the lightning ! never before have i wanted to get out of the mewp so quickly in my life but we stayed up and finnished the job . but never ever agian . the first rumple and im down on the ground now no matter what the client says
  9. there is a council team down here where the team leader expects the team to run not walk etc etc , a couple months ago the tem were putting his method of work into practise on a night job when the team leader ran to the truck that was towing a lighting tower to pull it forward , he jumped in to truck and drove a few meters down the road towing the lighting tower strait into an 11kv power line , he then jumped out of the truck after hearing the explosion he then tried to turn the lighting tower off , he was then electrocuted by the 11kv line through the lighting rig . by the time he re-gained consciousnes the lighting tower and brand new iveco tipper had burnt to the ground , the council now see that rushing only cost them more in the long run .
  10. hi guys , i have a problem with one of my husky 357 xp's , basicly the saw will start and run like all of the others but as soon as the saw is warm and has done a little work as soon as put the saw down to idle the tick over speed picks up rapidly and the the saw stalls , if you catch it in time and open the fuel tank the revs drop and saw carrys on ticking over . i have tried tuning and that has not solved the problem . the saw is roughly 2 and a half years old . has anyone elts had the same thing ??? i would really be greatfull for any help or info .
  11. i tell you what if i could get the pictures out of the ex groundy i would mate , it really gets me when let me down which in turn lets me down
  12. there are currently as many pictures of trees and jobs the dangerous brian has done on his cd as there are pictures of trees that your local LA get you up ! lol , so whats your take on pricing bob ??
  13. too many people spend far to much looking at there competitors rather than watching what there own busines is doing or not doing , who cares that top it lop it and hop it are charging 175 per day for a 2 man team or that someone elts is charging 500 per day for a 2 man team , you should know what it costs you to cover all of your overheads and make money , it is different for every company IMO
  14. i think pricing work slides from one end or the scale to the other , i have quoted on jobs where the client has had several really high quotes , i have quoted quite a bit less and done the job and the job makes me money but i have also gone to jobs where the client has been quoted a price that makes you wonder how the guy thats quoting that can actualy make any money . i think if you sit somewhere in the middle you will be kept in work and there are usually a few jobs where you can make a few quid more .
  15. my thoughts exactly mate
  16. well said mate , it gets me when you do a domestic jb and they expect 28 days to pay , you dont get 28 days to pay when you get a builder or plumber in nor do you get 28 days to pay for your shopping at tescos , if you cant afford to have the job done then dont have it done unless you make the contractor clear that you can not pay on completion and its up to you if you wish to do the work and wait for your money . simples the best one i had was when i did a load of storm damage work 18 months ago . the client told me they would pay on completion , however on completion i was told it was an insurance job !!! 3 months later a got my money
  17. i can totally see your point shrek , i have been doing some subbying work for a large company i sent my invoice in to them on december the 1st and was hoping to be paid within the first 2 weeks of january , i was still waiting for my money on the 25 of feb it was not untill early march when i started taking lega action that they decided to pay instantly , from then onwards i have refused to do any work for them , however two other companies decided that they would carry on doing their work , they are now taking the company to court as they have been paid once or twice since feb !!! i personally would not like to do there work for free
  18. thats also what i was told when i looked into it , also i have heard of some contracts stating that factoring or any similar scheems will not be allowed !
  19. Lloyds have a scheme like that called factoring , however as i found with my local utility company if i put my invoice to them through this scheme they WILL pay after two months insted of the 28 days as stated in there contract , so i would still lose .
  20. i find cashflow is the hardest part of running a busines , trying to put asside the tax and vat money makes it even worse , because guaranteed every month an outlay crops up that you were not expecting which means you have to dip into the tax or vat money , i have tried to over come this by making my payment terms strictly 14 days most LA's are happy to do so as the goverment have pushed them towards it due to the resession but im would be interested to hear what some of your payment terms are .
  21. i was looking at the rads system and it looks like it would be just as simple to use an art rope guide and jock jack set up and to add still use the rope walker system as shown in the u tube clip , has anyone tried this before ??
  22. so tommer did you get the mog ??
  23. hiya im looing into geting a new pair of stretch air type c's (from joesie) and just wondering who uses what , i have had a couple pairs of the gr climbers trousers but am looking into the gladiators but not sure what they would be like for climbing in , are they as stretchy etc etc !
  24. great bit of kit , i use mine alot , but can be a pain in the arse whne it gets stuck , but would much rather that than my rope guide coming crashing down onto concrete
