  1. i think pricing work slides from one end or the scale to the other , i have quoted on jobs where the client has had several really high quotes , i have quoted quite a bit less and done the job and the job makes me money but i have also gone to jobs where the client has been quoted a price that makes you wonder how the guy thats quoting that can actualy make any money . i think if you sit somewhere in the middle you will be kept in work and there are usually a few jobs where you can make a few quid more .
  2. my thoughts exactly mate
  3. well said mate , it gets me when you do a domestic jb and they expect 28 days to pay , you dont get 28 days to pay when you get a builder or plumber in nor do you get 28 days to pay for your shopping at tescos , if you cant afford to have the job done then dont have it done unless you make the contractor clear that you can not pay on completion and its up to you if you wish to do the work and wait for your money . simples the best one i had was when i did a load of storm damage work 18 months ago . the client told me they would pay on completion , however on completion i was told it was an insurance job !!! 3 months later a got my money
  4. i can totally see your point shrek , i have been doing some subbying work for a large company i sent my invoice in to them on december the 1st and was hoping to be paid within the first 2 weeks of january , i was still waiting for my money on the 25 of feb it was not untill early march when i started taking lega action that they decided to pay instantly , from then onwards i have refused to do any work for them , however two other companies decided that they would carry on doing their work , they are now taking the company to court as they have been paid once or twice since feb !!! i personally would not like to do there work for free
  5. thats also what i was told when i looked into it , also i have heard of some contracts stating that factoring or any similar scheems will not be allowed !
  6. Lloyds have a scheme like that called factoring , however as i found with my local utility company if i put my invoice to them through this scheme they WILL pay after two months insted of the 28 days as stated in there contract , so i would still lose .
  7. i find cashflow is the hardest part of running a busines , trying to put asside the tax and vat money makes it even worse , because guaranteed every month an outlay crops up that you were not expecting which means you have to dip into the tax or vat money , i have tried to over come this by making my payment terms strictly 14 days most LA's are happy to do so as the goverment have pushed them towards it due to the resession but im would be interested to hear what some of your payment terms are .
  8. i was looking at the rads system and it looks like it would be just as simple to use an art rope guide and jock jack set up and to add still use the rope walker system as shown in the u tube clip , has anyone tried this before ??
  9. so tommer did you get the mog ??
  10. hiya im looing into geting a new pair of stretch air type c's (from joesie) and just wondering who uses what , i have had a couple pairs of the gr climbers trousers but am looking into the gladiators but not sure what they would be like for climbing in , are they as stretchy etc etc !
  11. great bit of kit , i use mine alot , but can be a pain in the arse whne it gets stuck , but would much rather that than my rope guide coming crashing down onto concrete
  12. and realise your name is bob !!!!
  13. hiya i gave it a go installing it with retriever but gave up , but thanks for the pics drew , maybe i will try it again when i have more time !!!
  14. all my insurance is through trust i did have a lok around last time my vehicle insurance was up for renewal and still trust came out on top , they may be slightly dearer but when you see what there policies offer i feel they are much better value for money imo
  15. so true , cant beat a decent groundy to take them put them on cd and give them to the boss lol
  16. looks like an interesting job done well , i would not have liked being the one to drag the cable out accross tho lol . great pics btw!
  17. good call mate , i wonder how much he wants for it
  18. how old is you chipper ? i used to use one that did that , there should be two wires that are not attached to anything on one end , if yo join them together it over rides the no stress , fair enough you have to stand by the chiper to and work as the no stress but it will get you out of the sh*t and keep ypu working for now !!!
  19. you must be using the same guy !!!!!!
  20. i would settle for a mog and tp250 , one day !
  21. lol i aint seen many 6ft2 dwarfs bob lol
  22. its a shame stihl dont sell the ms200t with a carving bar as an option . i likt the standard bar for take downs etc and keep the other saw with the carving bar for pruning .
  23. i see . i have no reall knowledge of chippers like that , the tp looked like a good bit of kit , but like you said it does not have its own engine . so what would be your ultimate tpo chipper
  24. you sure your mog and chipper could handle that ?? looks like a big job to me lol:001_tt1:
