  2. down here in cornwall there are not that many pop's so i dont get much chance to work with them , oh and sorry for asking a daft question earlyer , i was too dusk looking at the pictures of the pop and dint look at the text above lol
  3. untill last year i had only ever had company vehicles when i was employd and my own work trucks for the 3 years so i decided to go out and get myself a car that i could not use for work (that way the missus will stop complaining of getting covered in saw dust and crap when ever we go out lol)
  4. looks like it will be a nice job to take it down , i must admit i dont hear of many pop's shedding limbs , what were the weather conditions like when it happened ??
  5. yeah i would be really interested in them !!
  6. verry true , i was messing with the £300 an hour bit , but i was not too far out is the rest of the tree being reduced at a later date , i couldnt see to wel from the pic's how far the limb had ripped back into the main stem . but nice pictures , it looks like a nice job to do in a nice location

  17. hiya which area of the country are you looking for staff in ???
  18. i have had a pair of the hi-viz stretch airs and mine have worn through the fabric round the crutch area , i think this is due to the ammount of time i spend in my harness , i also feel that the fabric is no any where near as durable as the standard stretch airs , why cant they strenghthen the high ware areas round the crutch area where they can ware like sip do ???
  19. i had the same problem with several pairs of stihl hi flex , i kept sending them back to my local stihl dealer and in the end i got in contact with andreas stihl and spoke to there P.P.E division and they were less than help full , they asked me to sent the trousers back to them at my cost and they might look into it , hence i will not buy another pair of stih trousers again , i strongly reccomend that you give justin at F.R Jones a call , i bought a pair from them at the AA show and the zip broke on the first day so i called him he asked me to sent them back and he sent me a brand new pair ! simples , i could not reccomend him highly enough .
  20. i would say christmas day would be about the best time to prune them lol
  21. the question was asked because i wanted to see what oppinions other arborists had , i personally do not have my head firmly stuck u my own arse ! best practises change on a regular basis ( as would and tec cert or prof dip qualified arborist agree , i my self recomend that and heavy pruning is to be carried out during the dormant period . How ever as i stated i had been speaking to a Prof Dip qualified consultant and he was saying about carrying out heavy crown reductions and pollarding during the height of the growing period . may be just maybe if you had read what i had said and thought before you attempted to critisise me for wanting to learn from others and use this forum for its intended purpose you too may have learnt something as for skyhuk i think there should be a few more that think like you do , we could all learn a bit from each other !!!
  22. to be honest i was of the oppinion that this kind of work could only be done in the trees dormant period but after talking the my local tree officer and asking him why an avenue of limes were being pollarded now he said that its because now is a great time because of the high levels of photosynthesis and that the tree is in nbetter state to recover and allomos imediatly start to put on new growth , i have been monitoring the tree of the past month and yes they have already put on hew gtrowth , what do you guys think to this theory ???
  23. i dont doubt for a minute that your not one , had i gone down the route of contract lifting with the crane company then yes i would have a qualified appointed person on site , so where did you do the training for that then bob ??? im interested
  24. is that in new condition tho , what are the figures for older equioment ??
