  1. Unless your completely broke and living from hand to mouth, which from your other posts I assume is not the case. The decision to take the three days off and a bit of travel (only a few hundred quid) on the chin in the short term to maintain a good relationship with a contractor and the long term revenue from them seems a simple one. If I were deluded and it was all so simple you wouldn't be on here asking advice, would you ?
  2. Unless the contractor is very large I doubt they'll be calling you again if you invoice them for a few days in court...depends how the relationship is and what you stand to lose in future if it won't sustain this sort of thing.
  3. Got one booked starting from Venice and going to a few places in the summer, will be my first one, food looks excellent and it's good value for visiting so many countries.
  4. For a low budget you want a large chipper. The little ones are not built to last. They were designed concentrating on making them legal to tow. I've a Vermeer 935i I'll be looking to sell soon, 9" 50hp working brakes recent cutter wheel bearings and other parts and will be fully resprayed in 2 pack.
  5. '96 crew cab transit tipper bought for £750. Not great but couldn't knock it for the price
  6. Scalping a/plan wings seem pretty good pack down very tight. Recycled type 1 is also quite effective and cheap at £7/ton
  7. I use your oil and have had no problems. Also worth considering that bar the first cuts of the day the oil in the saw gets heated and stays at quite a high temperature through the day when the saw is being used.
  8. I thought it was a highly rated firewood....which it is in my experience. However all dry wood seems pretty good to me
  9. The type 1 is all covered in soup, still perfectly grippy though and nothing sinks etc definitely needs topping up in the spring though
  10. Global sell quite a lot of used machinery and great refurbished stuff.
  11. Ta the sword machine its feeding into in the last picture do?
  12. Ebay has plenty
  13. Re spray in 2pack it'll last years.
  14. Strange, I think mine is 7500 or there abouts
  15. Don't know about 7.5 but my 18t does around 10mpg from my rough calculations, fill it about once a month which saves a lot of time. Body size is 4x2.3x2 so overall width is about 2.5 with mirrors. It will fit most places with chipper in tow. We have 10 week checks usually around £100. MOTs are fairly painless as long as your checks and maintenance have honestly been done through the year. Tax for mine is £650.00, considerably more than a 7.5t. Running costs are very reasonable, not expensive, tyres last a very long time as long as they don't get cut etc.
  16. Herts traffic
  17. No, only if for hire and reward, not shifting your own wood, plant etc
  18. Are the pictures each side or two seperate ends ? If it's the former I'd say it's more like a mornings work. Chip may be getting on towards 15-20M3 as all the stems fill the truck pretty quickly
  19. Think mine expires in 2032 and do them last year and year before I'll be about 44 by then, I thought the medical was needed again at 50 though
  20. Yes, category C to drive a rigid lorry, C+E to add a trailer entitlement this will give you a +E on any other license you hold or get in the future too if you don't have it already I.e B+E, D+E etc
  21. £750-£1000 depending how much you want it ? Steady day for 3 guys if you can get the chip in 1 load/ find a nearer site. If you've not got a lorry a grab lorry to pick it up off boards and drop it at your tip site on an hourly rate (2 hours I guess) would probably be cheapest way.
  22. It has been the case here for quite a while that then old licenses have a restricted train weight. need to take the test to get up to full weight so C1+E or C+E and gain all 4 categories.
  23. What's the problem, as long as you get the tax voucher off them your just paying the tax a bit sooner, not a major issue really?
  24. Just looked up the exemption, sadly it is only up to 7500kg. However do we fit into number 17 on this list ? https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/210068/hgv-tachograph-exemption-declaration-form.pdf
  25. If your buying it all just to do it, I would think extremely carefully about it. Unless you're also going to use the gear for your own jobs or have lots of timber haulage work lined up between helping arbs its a bit dodgy....and an 18t won't be very competitive hauling timber.
