  1. I had severe knee pain and swelling when i was about 13-14 started off with a bike crash. Dr and hospital each told me to rest it..after 7 months of resting and elevating they refered me to a specialist who had it sussed in 1 appointment sorted me some inserts for my shoes and the knee went down and stopped hurting in a week or 2...Really annoying how your GP and most hospital staff just give you the 'don't do anything for 8 weeks or 10 weeks or whatever bullshit when there is a real solution, lost best part of a year of riding and doing any other sport..or being able to bend my knee more than 90 degress 'cos the swelling was so bad!
  2. Sorry to drag this up again, but i'm thinking of asking for a bit of a rise and not found a matching case. I work 3 or 4 days a week for a 1 man business i am self employed, no sick pay etc. I supply all my own PPE and a ground saw, which is kepty sharp and ready to work...so is usually the best saw we have bar the rarely used big un's. I can rope branhces down keep ropes clear lift and drag alot, am polite and all the rest...I'd say i'm fairly efficient. I Also have CS30&31 funded by me. I get to do the odd climb if we finish early and get taught a bit which is good, but I only get £50 a day at the moment which i am starting to feel this isn't really enough. What do you guys reckon? its in Kent/Sussex so customers aren't short of money either
  3. If you have an issue with Bedgbury i know someone who owns fairly large wood in Penshurst who will have no health and safety questions. Its wher ei plan on practicing climbing and i'm sure he'd let people from here climb the tree's. theres a pretty big Beech up there that i wanna do once i get some gear has 'the seven sisters' arguably the largest (barely) living tree in england

    Work force.

What would you guys call a labourer? CS30+31, dismantling on the ground, loading the truck, roping things down and so on? more or less than that?
  5. theres a bin full of it for public use at the top of the hill i live on, luckily i half emptied it a few weeks before the snow . Are they not common?
  6. Full of chip like in the picture that'd be well over weight... I dread to think of the fine you'd get..specially if it was raining haha. nice job though, looks good, wish i had access to facilitie slike that!
  7. the most pollution made bya vehicle is ithe manufacturing process..all this getting people to scrap their old cars and buy new ones is crazy its the manufacturing that does the most damage!
  8. My boss trained at merrist wood, and what you've said sounds about right.. I'm amazed by allt he extra gadgets some guys on here use, no harm ina bit o' bling though is there
  9. [ame]http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XkHw8zbRm44&feature=related[/ame] do they get more violent than this? first time i have seen it, being fortunate enough to work with people who know what they're doing, that looked fairly tame.
  10. Yeah, RM125 2003, like anything with 2 wheels on dirt really..but with an engine is better! Pics!

  15. Hi mate I'm from Rochester, will be looking for a good price on CS38 and 39 soon and some gear so could probably use your help. i see you got a quad in your picture, Weston? I ride MX do you ever ride at riverside on it?

  16. Ace all the questions, but don't seem cocky. I was lucky on mine got all the Q's right as their pretty basic and the guy was well into the dual fuel kit on my van. During the felling and snedding (was 30 & 31) i made a few 'serious' errors and he just ignored them, even reminded me i needed to put my visor down after i started the saw.The other few i looked up to see if he'd clocked it and he was about 80ft away looking the other way so was pretty cool. back tot he point of charpening take your time and get it right they don't care if it takes you an hour+, it did for me as they gave me a f*cked college saw to sharpen and i had to take about 4mm off every tooth!! file was ruined afterwards
  17. If, i have worked with cranes a few times, not with tree's, but some drivers are brilliant and some are useless and dangerous!
  18. I run optimax and the like in my RM 125 (MX bike+additonal tuning) because it runs cooler. Whats happened to the barrel and piston onthe 88? I don't see how some slighty dodgy fuel could put a piston and barrel beyond repiar.
  19. That climbing set doesn't look too bad i'm guessing its all pretty bottom of the line stuff though, any of it real cheap nasty gear to be avoided? or am i just being cynical?
  20. Yeah I see what you mean. How much do you want for your tree flex, and the spikes?
  21. I am in Kent, I appreciate its all about the skills and what not but i figure a decent harness will make life much more comfy..there must be some popular brands? so spikes are probably a good idea. How many meters of rope should I have?
  22. are spikes a good thing for someone new? the guy i work with uses them, but one of his subbies hates them and very rarely resorts to them. Would it be better to learn the hard way without them to start with? What are the best brands of harness? Could be interested in that stuff pm me a price?
  23. Hi i am new tot he forum i have my CS30 and 31 and a few years experience with saws and things. I am currently groundying for a guy who has offered to partly subside CS38&39 to get me climbing I want to get my own gear though. I have used the search function to try and find the info but can't find exactly what i want so started this thread before i get th eusual forum 'use the search button' digs . I have seen a thread about compiling aclimbing kit for CS 38 but i want to know what gear I need to be fully operational on a job so i can price it up, i see what the guy i work for has but don't know what it's all called so just looking on pro climber and other sites i got a bit confused with the variety and amount of different stuff they had on offer. I have basic PPE trousers, boots and lid So far i have:- Harness Main rope (40m?) not sure on diameter- what's best? the smaller loops that attach to the main rope's don't know what these are called, Prussik's? Few smaller lengths of rope for positioning-how long are these typically? Silky Helmet with strap 020 3 way carabiners Lanyard Flip line thats all i can remmeber/think of/sensibly describe. Just need to know the bits i have missed and the correct names for this stuff so i can price it up. Thanks, Bill
