  3. Tirfor winching can kill a man!! Your lungs are gone in 60 seconds!!
  4. Nice pics, what camera?
  5. A lady customer made a repeat order for logs last week, after tipping the delivery she said "I like your wood it's nice and big" I was chuckling all the way back to the yard. Just wondering if anyone else has any funny ones?
  6. My point exactly, get me to the fine old trees and woodlands! A badly decaying tree has no place " Amongst the hustle & bustle of the Human "race" (cars, buildings, greed & disconnection from real emotion)"
  7. Decaying trees belong in a woodlands! Old pollards are a wonder yes, but they were cut years ago for good reason, firewood production. Reduce a decaying tree in an urban environment to retain it for a few more years; why? Tree inspections are essential to protect mature trees, but let's use the information and findings with conviction!
  8. He's cheating using his arms!
  9. Love that setup! Hard work though!
  10. Who wants to look at a beech tree that has been reduced? Why not just remove now and replace with a nice young vigorous specimen? Waste of time and resources that could be better focused elsewhere??
  11. Cool, sound reminds me of the old group B rally cars!
  12. Place called Bell End on the North York Moors:001_tt2:
  13. I was splitting some old barn stored ash rings, and the same happend apart from the split log flew side ways taking out my customer straight in the guts who was watching, he went in after that! Seems to happen with really dry hard wood!

  16. I have had more call outs in the last two months for storm related tree damage that the last 15 years put together. Yew, copper beech, cherry, chestnut, willow, cedar, plum, poplar all limbs torn off or left hanging. Cherry and robinia wind thrown These are just the ones I can rember off the top of my head I am sure there are others. Has anyone else had a run of call outs?
  17. My 110 is HD and in addition to the helper springs the chassis has an extra plate welded to the under side I believe all HD's are like this and some ex mod machines.
  18. How do you get into pole climbing and what kit do you need?
  19. A pulley and friction device in one unit that can be operated from the ground and up in the tree would half the load, room here for a new invention, "but I aint the guy to do it"
  20. What faith?
  21. Very interesting working the angles, turns new rigging techniques on it's head, using a low fiction pulley with a parallel rope to snatch stems doubles the static load on the pulley and anchor point, by using the old methods without pulleys reduces the load through friction and therefore reduces risk of load point failure! Will we have to go back 20 years and get out the poly prop!!???
  22. Could you use a simple hand winch attached near the saw :confused1:to pull the saw along?
  23. Why the starting bubble, makes it look like a McCat!
  24. I have been using it for over five years and never looked back, you need to protect your health at any cost, I had to buy a pallet at a time as a minimum order! Also it's not just the operator that's exposed to the fumes, think of your work mates, public, customer and above all your cab dog!
