  1. Cut for stakes and firewood. Regrowth should be good for binders.
  2. Short notice but one in Shrops if anyone's near. I'm going. Nice dryish stubble either side. http://www.hedgelaying.org.uk/shropshirematch.pdf
  3. Off Facebook https://www.facebook.com/ira.schram#!/photo.php?v=581835151898493&set=vb.127253204023359&type=2&theater
  4. That grey stuff is ceramic. The metals are fixed to it and need processing to remove. Diesel cats contain more platinum than petrol along with other metals. OEM cats can be worth a fair bit but take a replacement along to a dealer and you might get £3 each. There are catalogues available which list car models and the value of the cats. You can bet your life the thieves use these. Incidentally most non OEM cats are as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
  5. Remember that. Long runs with the ranging rods. We used to mattock plant and got competitive. Used to race with my work mate to get 400 planted each for breakfast at 10am. Young, fit and no straightening your back until the end of each run! Must have been mad:001_smile:
  6. Not mine but purloined from the Wympole blog. Quite apt. Rain It rained and rained and rained and rained The average fall was well maintained And when the tracks were simply bogs It started raining cats and dogs After a drought of half an hour We had a most refreshing shower And then the most curious thing of all A gentle rain began to fall Next day was also fairly dry Save for the deluge from the sky Which wetted the party to the skin And after that the rain set in “Anonymous”
  7. I was always told the best time to cut it is August. We used to do a lot of waterside stuff and we cut in August if we could. No idea on the reasoning.
  8. A landscaper friend of mine uses it. I've tried his saw and hate it. Maybe it's the combo of semi-pro saw and chain but it's slow.
  9. Such a shame. A little propping maybe and a little weight reduction could save that for generations to come.
  10. Don't you realise it's a nanny state! Someone has to take the blame for all this. If the local council can't control the weather then central government should do something:001_smile: Where there's blame there's a claim...never mind the highest rainfall for 250 years. If the river reaches my house someone's going to have to answer to it:001_smile:
  11. I'd ring them up and get a crime no. Keeps the crime numbers up and they are less likely to brag about low crime and high success rates.
  12. Wishing you both all the best.
  13. Well said. No amount of dredging will move water uphill. It's low lying, fertile land but it's going to flood when we have prolonged rain.
  14. All this is thanks to the defection of MZ rider Ernst Degner and Nazi rocket science technology. In 1961 the MZ 125 was producing 200bhp per litre. A phenomenal amount with a powerband of 400rpm! Suzuki stole it and the rest is history.
  15. Got one so I'll use it:001_smile:
  16. As above plus a D link in topping strop eye.
  17. P. latifolia I reckon. Def not oak as leaves are opposite.
  18. Thanks. Did look out for a red beard:001_smile:
  19. Lovely day for the Wimpole comp. Sunny and breezy on the top of a hill. Not much of a hill as it is Cambs! All in all a nice little competion on a lovely estate all arranged by a chap called Simon Damant Wympole & Wratsworth News | Wympole & Wratsworth | ……………..National Trust…………….. Everything you need to know about the countryside at Wimpole It's well worth a look. Met Woodmouse50 off here and came away with first place in Midland.
