  1. Nice! I quite fancy the forestry life, might look into it after college.
  2. Would 100m of rope not sag to much over that length, even with it tensioned. Would you not think steel wirerope to be better, although probably alot more expensive lol
  3. Thats real cool mate! What do you usually use the crane for?
  4. Have you tried jonsie on here from f.r jones? Hes pretty helpfull and im sure he would be able to help you track some down.
  5. Put some ratchet straps around the tree. Poplar will cut like butter with a sharp saw so as the tree starts to go keep cutting.
  6. I love the "new" caps, yes sometimes the oil cap dosnt close properly, but its easy enough to giggle around and make fit. Much prefere it to the old caps, saves faffing around with a combi spanner and putting a hole in the cap from "excessive combi spanner usuage"
  7. Sweeeeet!! Well if everything goes smoothly let us know what day its going to be on tv if you can!
  8. Is it exactly the same as the makita apart from the colour? They are great saws! IMO makita would sell alot more saws if they were dolmar colours!
  9. Crikey, would never get me driving that!!!
  10. Love it mate, especially when you stand on top right at the end! Would love to do something like that one day, although id happily admit id probably be abit nervous/terified! lol
  11. Sorry to hear that Colin! Thats abit to close to home for my liking, will keep my eyes and ears open. They could of stole it for its scrap value, may be worth a visit to sims scrap yard in taunton. Was in there last week and it was FULL of pikeys.
  12. I assume the trees were just heavily infected (if thats the right term) with beef steak fungus, which i think is what causes the colouration. Im sure Hama will be along to correct me if im wrong!
  13. Looks like abit of brown oak you got there!
  14. Keep the trunk/butt and log the rest i recon.
  15. I think they are good aslong as your remeber there not a 020. I think most of us are guilty of comparing any top handle saw directly to the 020. I always wondered why stihl didnt sell them over here, i would pick one up if i was abroad somewhere though!
  16. The ebay item was listed using the the pictures from your arbtalk advert and also using the same item discription minus a few bits of info. What a cheeky barsteward for doing that! Makes you think who is out there, lurking in the arbtalk background
  17. If your using both ends of your rope this should be fine? But yes a rope guide will hold your weight.
  18. I was just wondering what sort of winch your after? PTO winch? vechial mounted? Small hand held portable jobby? Might help you find what your after
