  1. The forestry commission do some good booklets about managing different types of woodland only a couple of quid may help. Forestry Commission
  2. Thats cool, how far away would it be visible on? Does it only get used on special occassions? Without trying to sound like an ass, get your mate to buy a cambium saver so not to damage his rope on the metal.
  3. Will you be reducing any weight off as well as cabling? I always thought the two went hand in hand? Also be nice to see pics of the entire tree, looks a good one
  4. That looks pretty good and quick although i dont like the idea of doing a changeover with ascenders with no backup hitch ect.

  10. Not sure where to post these so figure this be as good a place as any. A poplar fell from today, spotted some fruiting bodies and then found peeling bark and soft wood. looking back at the pictures the left side of the canopy does look thinner and im surprised that she had not gone over or failed in some way. Enjoy

  13. Hmmm the heaviest mulcher i wonder when the first picture will be realeased when its stuck up to the cab in mud lol
  14. I used to do street tree work and had a 1000 behind a 7.5 ton lorry, i loved it everything went through it and i can relate to the disengaging easily fixed with a bungee or fuel can hung from it:blushing:. We had to back it into a barn which the lorries didnt fit in so a non wheeled jockey wheel didnt go down well in the back department. My fave chipper not too big and not too small was the vermeer 935 which they dont make anymore
  15. I think its a bit of both although there seems a good number of jobs on arbjobs? I have been quiet this week but then a few phonecalls can turn it round. I pretty much just freelance and only do me own stuff through word of mouth. Problem is the area i work there seems to be a number of freelance climbers too.
  16. Cheers for the heads up there glen, any reason for the hike in price, i need my copy for the tech cert resit
  17. If work is quiet and a month with plenty of bank holidays (in england anyway), might be worth biting the bullet and resting maybe even just work a couple of days a week. Any chance of helping out a consultancy company maybe some basic surveying? Hope you mend soon
  18. Its quiet times and a lot more brave people wanting to go it alone, i mostly freelance and its times like this im glad its just my landy on finance and not a chipper and other kit. I got stuff in for friday and then next week but the month is quiet
  19. Not much on this week so having a chilled one, been out for a run might do a spot of gardening then out bunny bashing. Good times
  20. Useful info, my 051 is running .404 so best check the sprocket (not had it long)
  21. Cool, looks like a new cam for me then
  22. There is a small spring that sits under the part that you clip to so when you sit back into it the small spring helps push the cam to lock it of..... I think? Does that make sense, sorry for being long winded
