  1. It's £1.42 a litre here, and we have two refineries within 6 miles
  2. It does not matter what you do Sycamore will never hold, it is too brittle for fancy cuts. The oly way that it will go other than the lean is with a winch/ ropes.
  3. I said that i had spent the day pruning nectria out of an orchard, and thats what it looked like it to me. Softwood are prown to as many different cankers as hardwoods, but Nectria galligena does not effect softwoods.
  4. Its poetry in motion, tested it out on some knotty elm when i got home, i got so excited that i made my trousers sticky.
  5. "They are not for 'larger' people and are designed to be small, i think the amount of 'larger' people who climb trees is quite small". Best i pack up and go home then.
  6. This turned up today, and only £59. Gransfors Splitting Maul
  7. Only ever used the uniforest ones in the past, which have proven to be bomb proof. However now that i am going to have to buy my own i have just been looking at the wallenstein, which seem very good value for money, too good to be true ? Time will tell
  8. You will be wanting a union graduate lathe, i got mine from these people. G & M Tools - Union Graduate The last piece that i turned was about 20", which was about the limit.
  9. Heres something to look forward to, mine (Land Rover 90) at the age of 40 is £156 fully comp. Sorry
  10. I have just spent the day pruning out nectarina canker from apple trees, which to me looks like what is in these trees in pics one and two. However are these on softwood trees, if they are, then i am fairly sure that nectarina canker does not effect them. So back to the drawing board i am afraid.
  11. Yeah, don't let the oppressive pigs grind you down man !
  12. Thats the best reason for being banned from a NT property
  13. Bilberry, bilberry, bilberry, bilberry. As my tongue shows in my avatar
  14. Bilberry, bilberry, bilberry, bilberry. As our tungues show in my avatar
  15. Let us know what you need, and i will try and help.
  16. This is going to sound too obvious, but why not just fell it ?
  17. Depending on how long the Laylandii have been there, there will have been a small amount of soil acidification, but it does not tend to remain in the soil for long (it get leached out by the rain, which i believe you occasionally get in Ireland). So i would plant what you like, just add some well rotted compost when you plant the trees. Generally smaller trees produced the best results in the end. But most people want instant effect, so you will have to plant larger one. Enjoy, it will make a nice change from felling.
  18. Thankyou for that Paul, very handy/ useful
  19. I know that you can out 25% of the value through your books this year, but you can put 25% through for each of the following three years. I would give the tax office a ring, in the past they have been incredabably helpful with various questions that i have had. And they do not charge for there time, unlike accountants.
  20. I have been given one, and i already got one. Anybody want it ? (need to make me laugh) and a few quid to cover P&P
