  1. From the way that you posed the question, i am guessing that there is a major fault with the tree, hence your course of action, i.e. crown reduction. If there is a fault, then i am guessing that it is where the main stem is kinked and the tree is growing new branches (about half way up).
  2. My tractor is insured through Lycetts
  3. At a guess, there is a problem where there is a kink in the stem and new growth is sprouting ?
  4. I have had my eye in this piece of beech for a while now. 15minute walk to get to it, which is why i had to cut the trunk i half before milling it up. The pieces are 12' long, and just about carryable on my shoulder. Well worth the effort, but my wife is not happy about the 12 planks taking up so much space.
  5. Rowan used to be used for tool handles, cog wheels, pulleys, and gun stocks

  7. The beetle looks like a lesser stag beetle, and i am impressed at hoe close you were able to get. Or was it a massive telephoto lens
  8. Working today, clearing up some blown branches, and i spotted this throught the trees. I have been wanting to capture this on film for a couple of years, but i have always been just too late, until this year. Tis a thing of beauty. 11. If it is black and hairy, and flying slowly at this time of years, it will be a St Marks fly (Bilbo marci), larvae live in soil and rotting vegetation
  12. Nice to see some good honest rigging, none of this namby pamby large lumps removed with a crane nonsence. Good work fella, i felt cold and miserable just watching
