  1. I thought that was what you were talking about. Interesting pruning on the trees in the diagram
  2. That is one big cherry, is it the biggest in these here isles ?
  3. It sound an intresting idea, but a my broad band is currently running at 64 kbps, it is too slow to watch any movie footage. Got Any pictures ?
  4. how high have you climbed before you bottled out ? Try it under a tree, and climb it roped up, just to see how high you can get. I reccon that you will be able to get to the 14th rung. Go on you know you want to.
  5. Just a bit of fun. Lumberjack Games - Sports Games at Miniclip.com - Play Free Online Games
  6. I am busy that weekend as well. Don't worry there will be others. If i can pull me finger out i could probably organise one at Lawrenny over looking the estuary.
  7. Hi David, you would be correct. In my humble opinion it also produces one of the finest single variety ciders.

Well done, you are the first person to find out what slack ma girdle means.

    Cheers Murray

  8. You have my vote, but i also like the redwood creek picture.
  9. Bugger i am away for that weekend
  10. Wot no nasty pictures Hope it heals quickly
  11. The Oak woods behind Maentwrog are fantastic, and not many people know about them. Harlech Castle is worth a visit. The Dinorwic slate quarries above Llanberis offer somthing completly different, dispite the warning signs (that everybody ignores) you can explore nearly all the quarry and there are some scary drops and tunnels to find.
  12. On flat damp to wet ground how much would you expect to extract per day. It would be spruce thinnings, tree lenght about 30' ???
  13. The wood is good for draw liners as it smell nice. If you have the ability and the time, it will probably be worth the effort. I have turned some nice platters from it, the grain always looks good.
  14. They have only come undone in one tree and i think it was the high levels of ivy. Picture below shows one small banch at the top of the tree before and after.
  15. Part Two I have now been using the harness for a couple of months now, and i am now becomming used to it. It is a comfy harness, but a couple of the niggles that i highlighted in the first post are still niggling. The padded belt is definitley not big enough to sit around my 36" waist, and i have spent enough time fiddling with the two adjustment buckles trying different combination. I had to dismantle a small ash tree, and knock the stem over in small lumps. Spent about 20-30 minutes standing in spikes clipped onto the side D's. The D's are too far back because the belt is too small, and dug into my hips. Not looking forward to a large dismantle because of this. The lack of small loops at the front to clip my silky too is realy annoying, so much so that i have sown one to the harness. I have now realised that probably there is a chainsaw attachment at the back of the harness, but as there is no mention of this in the literature i am not totally sure. One thing that has become apparent since the weather has warmed up is the large triangular legs loops get very sweaty, what could be done to stop this i do not know as they are comfy. Finally the leg loop buckles. Whilst scrabbling around a Cedar removing ivy, both buckles had come undone during the day. Whilst this does not worry me, i think that these buckles need to be changed for future versions. Over all i am happy with the harness, dispite the niggles.
  16. There nothing wrong with Red Oak. The only difference is that it is not as strong as English oak. But as you are burning it that really does not matter. Just put it down to Oak snobbs, and once it is cut and split, no one other than a really sad tree spotter is going to know the difference.
  17. Cheers Hama, that was quick off the mark, don't supose it has an English name ?
  18. OK fung geeks, it is not a Jews ear, and i have a flick through the fungi guide, and i still do not know. What do you recon ?
  19. The mill in the third picture is it home made, or was it of the shelf ?
  20. I can not see enough detail of the wings, but it is definitley a noctuid moth, so that count out the previous two. It does not have the heart and dart on the wings so that will narrow it down further, but with out being able so see the whole wing my guessing will have to stop there.
