Looks good. Just think how many extra trees that could have been felled or extracted in the time that the fire took to get going. Still if i have time i might get a fire going tomorrow, it might take my mind off my lantra training asessment.

Have you got Steve Cull in mind, if so he is quick and very efficient.

They are split in 3' lenghts, and stacked to dry. They can then cut to what ever size the customer wants. Generally the split lenghts are cut into 4, which most people are happy with. All left over bit come home with me.

Hopefully filled in correct and submitted. Although me and computer, it normally needs a couple of attemps to get it right. -
Thee ones at woodfest that i saw were football boots with a metal plate screwed into the stud holes, and the spike welded to the plate. It took a long time to get the spike at the right angle so that it would dig in properly. I did a tree job around the corner from those pole, seeked in after we finnished and had a quick race to the top. Nice view

Mix the seeds with equall parts of compost and bark or chip. Leave in a bucket over winter with drainage holes in it. The mix needs to be kept damp but not wet, and in a cool out house or next to a north wall. Make sure that the bucket has a wire cover to stop the pesky mice from having a party. Tip out the bucket in late spring to see if any have germinated (probably not). Pot on any that have, and return the rest for another winter. I have tried a couple of times with only limited success. Hope you have better luck.

It is as good as any hardwood. The hairs in the bark can make it ichy when processing.

Nobody can predict the future, so why bother trying. Enjoy each day as it comes, and if you can not work because you are snowed in, build a snowman.

Wood in the round does not season, it has to be split. Sawn timber takes approx a year an inch to dry, so a 12" inch round log will take 12 years !! GET IT SPLIT

I would say that there is some kind of infection that is causing the smell, rowan wood is not normally that yellow.

Are you creating family trees, or are you going to remove the wood above the graft once it has taken ? What are the advantages of bud grafting over notch grafting ?

You were as unlucky as a friend of mine who spent 2 weeks stuck in a tent on mount Hood, only to find that when the weather broke, so much snow had fallen that they could not climb, so had to come home.
