  1. Good lunge, text book stuff, keep up the good work.
  2. Whats the forwarder fallen into ? By the look of the tracks the forwarder has been driving thay way before. Probably too busy downloading naughty pictures to his phone !
  3. That is the reason why i can not
  4. As long as the chimney is about a foot higher than the top of the roof you should be fine. If the chimney is not comming out near the apex of the roof, you will need at least 3 feet sticking out of the roof. If you need more then it will need extra bracing to support.
  5. Please tell me that you have an after photo.
  6. Sarp chains are the hardest to decipher and get the correct one for your saw, you need the sarp book and the chain box and the ability to cross reference.
  7. I had real trouble shifting 150 m3 earlier this year, most went for cattle bedding. I am now giving away the remainder with loads of logs. Tried some of it last week, not impressed, and the smoke does not smell very nice.
  8. Yes. Delux weathershield priming woodpreserver contains lots of nasty chemicals that will preserve wood for a long time.
  9. I resisted the urge to add any myself. I am just woundering how long other arbtalkers can restrain themselves.
  10. How long before this thread decends on a downward spiral.
  11. Look like nice woods to be working in, wheres the mud, brambles and steep slippery slopes ?
  12. from the delightful memories i have of clearing rhoddie the last time, a chainsaw was the most effective becuase the stems are normally so badly twisted/ knotted together you very rarely get to fell anything. Better still is a 3 ton digger with wide metal tracks and a grab, that feeds a big shredder. That will save a bit of sweat on your brow
  13. Bah tis a tidlder
  14. The spelling is bad and the English is not much better: ' I,d like to aks about for wood chipper. How inch is tree material. ' That be quality English
  15. Why can i not find pyraster in any of my tree books ?
  16. At the risk of going against the flow, i think that pete has put forward a good arguement. He might not be have all the facts right, but i for one struggle with maths and therefore defer to the person with the expertise in the subject. Pete ignore the heathens above, when they can come up with a better argument............
  17. Which one is pyraster ?
  18. To please we need a quality lunge on top !
  19. The delmhorst one that i got from Rob (alaskan mill fame) seams very robust and reasonable. The only trouble is the highest reading is 30%, but as i only want it for milled timber and logs it is not a problem.
  20. If it private and you can not remove the constriction, then you have two choices: Skyhuck has eluded to one. Do nothing and let it do its own thing, and at some point in the future it is going to structurally fail. You could reduce some of the crown to reduce the stress on the co-dominant forks. But you will be left with large wounds, which are not going to help the trees health.
  21. Is it a public or private garden ?
  22. It is a saw, but not a motorised one. Just finnished sharpening my tennon saw.
  23. Flat out since January, and got enough work to keep me busy till crimbo
  24. Are you talking about saw logs or firewood ?
  25. If i was not so busy....... i might have considered ten years ago. P.M. me if you are ever stuck due to illness or holidays
