  1. A bit of turning from last night, and then tonight as the first one went wrong. Photo one is just before i cut too much off the middle and went right through (bugger). Tonights effort, pics 3 & 4 i bottled out and did not get it thin as i would have liked. The wood is still a bit green, hence why it needs to be thin to alow it to move. The platter is ash and finnished with sunflower oil to make it food safe.
  2. I got £15 per m3, which was the best offer by about £9 per m3. Transport is the killer so try and find someone local.
  3. Holy Cow batman, that is even more clapped out than mine. But if it works ignore all the abuse that is coming your way.
  4. Most PPE is available in large sizes, but normall to special order. One of my previous employer was simmilar dimentions to you and he never had problems getting ppe. If the timber had woodworm, bring it in in the house in small batches, and don't leave it lying around. Birch seasons quickly, burns quickly, and rots quickly, particularly outside, so it wont last long for fruit cages.
  5. Welcome to the mighty world of arb talk. Whats your first daft question ?
  6. I have a chainsaw mill, but i wuld rather it went through a band saw to reduce the wastage. But if i can not find one then i will mill it.
  7. I have got a 3' ash bur that i am not sure what to do with ! Its too big and heavy for me to move
  8. Mine had a good day, almost caught a squirrel. Dopy mut kept going back to the same tree throughout the day to see if it was still there.
  9. Who were the 'PROFFESIONALS' carrying out the demonstration dismantle from a cherry picker. They cut through the rope with the chainsaw. And if they had not, the branch would have had such a big swing that it would have probably hit the groundsman controling the lowering rope. On the plus side the demonstration at the stihl area was good, tha man was able to discribe both sides of the debate very well. The sausages were good, but not worth the wait. Now all i have got to do is wait for my new harness to arrive, one of the new fangled Hakkie ones.
  10. Nice one, you should try high lift wedges, would make your life easier knocking over the trunks.
  11. It is good to see a professional at work
  12. My old 026 which is in bit is up for grabs. no sensible offer refused (plus a donation to arb talk). I have taken it apart 2 times to try and work out what it wrong, and i can't. i have now bought an ms261, which is not compatible. I am going to the arb show tomorrow so i can take it with me. P.M. me if you are interested.
  13. Its not fair, why don't our trees grow as big ?
  14. Crap merchandise, brilliant web site, we can not have it all !
  15. That more like flammin ace, a propper sized tractor doing some propper work.
  16. Looks good, will have to see if i am teaching or not.
  17. What on earth do you do with that, it's too big to go anywhere. I like the toy tractor in the back ground.
  18. Maybe he has run out of sweet lady cider !
  19. Hi jon, they are as good as each other once they are on the fire. Personally i prefer ash to split, and beech to burn. No dowt everyone one else will differ. See you at the show, are you still going ?
  20. I hope so as i will be doing th same.
  21. The photo does not do it justice, 210' is a big spread.
  22. That looks fantastic. What jig are you using to cut the parallel cuts in picture 2 ? P.S. Like your signature.
