  1. Yeah, but at £22 it's rather steep, especially if you're used to carrying 4 wedges around just in case anything goes awry with the fell. Any discount for forum members, Yve?
  2. I don't like complicated, I like simple, especially from a maintenance point of view. This is why I'm not convinced about Mizer yet and am looking at alternatives, preferably British manufactured.
  3. So has anyone owned to LogLogic and can they compare it to the Mizer?
  4. Hi Areley, I know you've already replied to my PM's but they keep arriving blank for some reason. Can you please email me your details because I'd like to have a chit chat sometime. Will PM my email address again now. If you don't receive it then let me know and I'll work something out. Damn technology, hey. Thanks
  5. Chasing the hinge may have prevented the BC, but if it didn't then you'd be in it's unpredictable path. As soon the tree goes, gotta assume there is danger from the tree being felled and also from above, so retreat quickly no matter what, I say.
  6. Obviously a barber chair, but the face and back cut looked fine. It seemed like there was some lean, so perhaps a dog tooth was called for? I dunno - these vids are a little fuzzy on details sometimes.
  7. Is that a Scirocco or a Quatro next to the Subaru? I had a Scirocco - fast as fecking feck! My dad owned many Subaru's. Used to have a great time killing them in the fields after the MOT's had failed.
  8. The Prime Minister is a hopeless tw*t, but that's not for another time. Another member has been trying to PM me for the past couple of days, but his messages keep arriving blank. Anyone else having this problem?
  9. Many thanks Areley. I've sent an email to Calum to request further info. Out of interest, do you own the petrol version of the Alstor?
  10. Arbwork, do you supply/service Mizers by any chance? Wouldn't mind having a chat.
  11. Located in Mid Wales. Plan to offer felling and low impact timber extraction (Alstor 8x8) combined with mobile sawmill service to estates, SSSI's, nature reserves and private land owners. Although, I'm open to suggestions about other types of clients to target. Obviously, I was seriously considering a WoodMizer, but having heard a first-hand account of their apparent slow servicing response time in Wales, I began to seek out alternatives, preferably British alternatives. What appeals to me about the LogLogic is that it is made in Britain. Has anyone ever owner/used one?
  12. Just to clarify, what are the "original tickets for 8 wheel machines" and what's the assessment with Dick Bradshaw please? I have a course booked with Nathan @ HomeForestry in the next couple of weeks, but suspect that I'll need further tickets to be able to work with certain agencies e.g. upon Forestry Commission land. Any advice/numbers/contacts would be most helpful.
  13. I'm about to submit a grant application for a mobile bandmill - so money no objecy - that can be towed behind my Landy and wanted to discuss the pros and cons of the main contenders, based on anyone's experience with these machines. Regarding the WoodMizer, I hear they're a powerful machine, but servicing and support in the UK is apparently a right PITA. Was told that another good machine is the one used by the MOD, but cannot remember the name. Possibly LogLogic? Anyway, any advice on what's hot and what's not would be most welcome.
  14. Thanks for the info Charlieh. How soon will the course be ready do you think and do you think I should do the FMO 1.5 and 3.2 instead? I'm at a bit of a crossroads here because I'd like to start using the Alstor for work asap, but wouldn't want to do so without the required tickets.
